I’ve often reflected on the fact that ISIS marched through the Middle East and basically ended the possibility of generational Christianity there.
They slaughtered so many Christians and destroyed so many churches that the only way the Christians in the Middle East will ever recover their population is by converting Muslims, which, of course the Muslims make illegal, punishable by death.
Do you think of a Christian wandered into a mosque and opened fire and killed Muslims during their worship they wouldn’t mention the Christians in the headline?
I really don’t think so.
I could be wrong, I’m wrong all the time.
Whatever the case, Islam has a serious problem and Christians are paying a bit bitter, bitter price for it. Headlines like this don’t help make the problem as clear as the blood of these innocent people does.
Alas
At least nine people were killed and 34 were injured after gunmen opened fire on a church in Karak, Jordan, on Friday. abcnews.link/XdO4iJa

Abdul isn’t the scary person his opponents want you to be afraid of.
There’s so much work going into making people afraid of Abdul. People focus on his Muslim name, make accusations about who he’s connected to, and warn that he’s going to force Sharia law on everyone. You hear it over and over again. And I think we should stop and ask why they’re working so hard to make us afraid of him.
It’s hard for me to hear Muslims and Arabs talked about this way without thinking about our own Jewish history. We know what it’s like to have people treat your identity as a reason to distrust you, to make you seem threatening just because of who you are. I’m not telling anyone what they have to believe about Abdul. I’m asking people to recognize that this kind of talk should sound familiar to us.
And look, I understand that people in our community are scared right now. There are real threats, real grief, and real reasons to be worried about Jewish safety. I’m not trying to minimize any of that. But what do we actually do about it?
For me, this comes down to a pretty simple question: Who is going to protect the democracy that has helped keep Jews safe in America? Who is going to stand up for the rights of all of us? Abdul. Because I believe protecting our community means protecting the democracy we all depend on.

Sadly, we have been informed that the number of martyrs from the terrorist attack on St George’s Church in Jordan has risen from 7 to 9.
We pray for our brothers who have borne witness to Christ through their martyrdom, as well as for the swift recovery of the injured.
Has there been a more powerful and, yet, humble, homily on love??? WOW. 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Ethiopia: At least 47 Ethiopian Christians were killed, and another 18 hospitalized, in coordinated attacks targeting them in the Oromia region.
Surviving witnesses claimed regional authorities collaborated with Islamist militias to carry out the massacre.
Church leaders have repeatedly warned local authorities about armed groups entering the area, but received no serious response.
This is not an isolated incident, but rather part of a pattern of targeted attacks against Ethiopian Christians, who militants conflate with Amhara ethnicity.
This fusion of religious and ethnic violence against innocent Christians and their churches must not be tolerated.
We condemn these evil acts and call for the protection of Ethiopia’s Christians.
This is a stunning insight.
It’s the first time I’ve ever heard of anyone going to an American university and coming out more liberal.
Next thing you know, you’ll tell me you come out of college with crushing debt, right?

Today, after mass, I talked to a Family from Jordan.
In the last few years, their families were butchered by Muslims. They fled here where they can practice freedom or religion.
They were telling me that just recently back home, muslims stormed a Catholic funeral, and killed the number of people who were there praying and mourning their dead.
It’s often the case that when these new stories pop up, people are anxious to inform us that this is not Islam.
I want to be clear that it’s not Christians who need that information, that’s the people doing it in the name of Islam.
Those are the people who need that information.
Right now, the world is in desperate need of a Muslim leader to take authority and to begin speaking against the seemingly constant atrocities.
I understand it is a decentralized religion, but I wish with all my heart that the peaceful, non-radicals would stand and say enough.
I find myself slain by the poverty of my love for God and the ridiculous generosity of His love for me.
And yet He accepts my love as I give it, calling me to more, but loving me where I am.
