ALT Comparison of (left) a field trials plot sprayed with fungicide containing mefentrifluconazole + pyraclostrobin + fluxapyroxad (BASF, Research Triangle Park, NC) at miniature floral bud initiation (R1) (Schneiter and Miller 1981) growth stage and (right) a nontreated control (NTC) plot (Picture by R. Kashyap). The trial was planted to a commercial oil type susceptible hybrid in Brookings, South Dakota, in 2020 (Trial ID - 20-SD-5). The NTC plots had plants with stem lesions of Phomopsis stem canker, while the mefentrifluconazole + pyraclostrobin + fluxapyroxad treated plots had plants with no or relatively little discoloration on the stems. These plants were at R7 growth stage (back of the head is pale yellow) and approximately 1 month from harvest. An average yield increase of 575.51 kg/ha (513.46 lb./A.) was observed for plots treated with pyraclostrobin (584.62 ml/ha, 8 fl. oz./A.) when compared to NTC (treatments were nonsignificant at P = 0.19) (data not presented).
