Ed Sheeranβs music has always been an escape from the political world that consumes so much of my life. Thatβs why seeing politics enter his tour was so disappointing; sometimes music should simply bring people together.

Connecticutβs Citizensβ Assembly (@CCMAdvocacy) recently released its final report with ten recommendations aimed at reducing property taxes and reforming municipal funding.
At a high level, there are certainly some ideas here that I can get behind. Having worked in municipal government and public policy, I understand the challenges communities face balancing essential services, rising costs, and the burden on taxpayers.
That said, I do have some concerns:
πΉ Property Tax Relief: Shifting costs from municipalities to the state doesn't guarantee lower property taxes for residents.
πΉ Fiscal Responsibility: The report proposes significant new state obligations without a comprehensive, sustainable funding plan.
πΉ Regionalization: Consolidating school districts and municipal services may create efficiencies, but where is the cost-benefit analysis?
πΉ Revenue Sharing: Distributing restaurant and hotel tax revenue based on commercial activity could further disadvantage communities with fewer resources.
πΉ Accountability: More government spending doesn't automatically translate into better services or outcomes.
My biggest concern is that we're discussing who should pay for government services rather than addressing why those services continue to become more expensive.
I appreciate the Assembly's work and believe several recommendations warrant further consideration. However, as we approach the 2027 legislative session, lawmakers need to carefully examine the financial implications and ensure these proposals deliver meaningful results.
Good intentions are important, but good public policy requires fiscal responsibility, accountability, and measurable outcomes.

HOUSE OF CARDS shouldβve ended with Season 2. Frank becoming President, followed by that final double knock on the Oval Office desk, was the perfect ending. The show had nowhere bigger to go after that, and a tight run mightβve made it an all-time great.
I never thought I'd be saying this, but I'm leaving Connecticut.β¨
For more than three decades - from Redding to Danbury to New Britain - Connecticut has been home. It has shaped who I am, given me incredible opportunities, introduced me to lifelong friends, and allowed me to be part of communities and causes that mean so much to me.β¨
Although my next chapter takes me beyond Connecticut, my connection to the Nutmeg State is far from over. I look forward to continuing my involvement in the causes and communities that have meant so much to me over the years. No matter where life takes me, Connecticut will always be a part of who I am.
Now, it's time for a new adventure in a new neighborhood β Pittsburgh, PA!β¨
Pittsburgh is a city where history meets the future, and I'm excited to become part of its vibrant community and see where this next chapter takes me. I'm looking forward to putting down roots, making new connections, embracing new opportunities, and finding meaningful ways to give back to a city that already feels full of possibility. While the scenery may be changing, my belief in the importance of community, service, and bringing people together remains the same. I'm excited to discover what Pittsburgh has to offer and, hopefully, leave a little positive mark of my own along the way.β¨
To my friends who have encouraged me over the years to finally make this move: thank you.β¨
I've enjoyed the honey, left a sting or two, and done my best to help fill the hive. Now, it's time to spread my wings and find a new neighborhood, where the bridges are yellow and the possibilities are golden. ππΊππ€πβ¨
