Election confidence requires traceable evidence: preserved paper ballots, ballot images, cast vote records, and documented reconciliations—with ballot secrecy protected.
Our’s principle—“Voting must be secret; counting must be public”—guides this five-part Cassandra Series compilation, prepared with input from former Arizona Secretary of State Ken Bennett.
Examining the March 2026 Pima County Regional Transportation Authority election, the book asks whether explanations for reporting changes can be independently reproduced. It does not claim the certified outcome was wrong.
Auditable Ballot Examination (ABE), the free Excel-based tool developed by Brakey and AUDIT USA, links cast vote records to ballot images where lawful access and reliable identifiers exist. Reviewers can compare recorded selections with visible marks. Preserved paper ballots remain essential checks on digital records.
This complements rather than replaces risk-limiting audits. Appropriate privacy protections, documented custody, and clear procedures matter.
Discrepancies may reflect corrections, eligibility adjustments, or timing—not necessarily wrongdoing.
The demand is simple: make election explanations reproducible and supporting evidence available for independent public examination.

Plase read and Share: We expect banks to explain our charges, assessors to document our property taxes, and courts to examine evidence. Why should elections be the exception? In Part Three of the Cassandra Series, I explore what equipment tests establish, what actual-ballot audits add, and what questions remain unanswered about Pima County’s RTA election.
A missing explanation does not prove the result was wrong. It gives us a reason to ask for the records needed to evaluate it.
Whatever your party, you deserve understandable evidence supporting the count.
Voting is secret. Counting should be publicly verifiable.
Read Part Three—and share it with someone who believes public confidence should be earned through evidence.
