We can no longer maintain the pretence that the current situation is fully under control. Should meaningful and sustained improvement not materialise, we are prepared to give serious consideration to stepping back from ownership. Our overriding priority must be what best serves the long-term interests of Manchester United. Supporters are entitled to see their club competing consistently at the highest level of the game. We are fully aware that a substantial portion of the fanbase has lost confidence in our leadership. Those voices cannot be disregarded indefinitely. A change in direction may ultimately prove necessary for the club to progress. We did not foresee that our involvement would reach this point, but recognising when a responsibility exceeds one’s capacity is a necessary and responsible step. We will therefore carefully evaluate all available options. If relinquishing our role is required for Manchester United to move forward, we are prepared to accept that outcome. The future of the club must take precedence over all other considerations.”
