Pretty much on the same level, people lost their shit and harassed her when she confirmed a character isnt Trans, they tried to start a rumor that mangaka herself was non-binary which she had to come out and deny and she just had to get in to shippers because they were constantly harassing her with questions about them, in I think a live stream.
She also got death threats over telling people not to trace over offical works to pass off as their OC.
