The SBA 7a program is the best government stimulus program ever conceived in the history of the world. That is not hyperbole. It's net profitable for taxpayers, even after defaults. It creates millions of jobs. It creates liquidity for small business owners and incentives to start businesses that are pillars of our communities. It is the envy of every international entrepreneur I know. Not only that, the SBA and entire SBA ecosystem was conscripted in wartime and worked round the clock to deliver on the PPP program with insane speed, which imperfect as it was, literally saved thousands of small businesses and perhaps our economy. Dragging the SBA 7a program for the faults of PPP is like jailing medics for administering imperfect aid on the frontlines. 7a is an incredible job and GDP creation machine, with aligned incentives in the form of a personal guarantee by the borrower. We should find ways to scale it even further.
