Despite getting a call from the Chronicle asking if I am running for Supervisor, they didn’t publish it. I want to be crystal clear so my thoughts are below: sfchronicle.com/sf/article/m…

Happy Saturday, anyway listen: YES on 40 because when billionaires spend 300 million to get us to vote NO, we know it’s a set up. Also, vote NO on 41 & 42, because if they pass they kill prop 40!

And if you become a billionaire, congratulations, you’ll pay 5% of your billion ONE time, to help out all your old buddy and pals. So, thanks.

Quiet on the SET! Hollywood came to the Mission District. The filming of Fog City had the neighborhood reliving its Italian days. 🔥

If you haven’t been paying attention, I highly suggest you start.
I resigned from Anthropic today. I spent the last three years doing pretraining research at both OpenAI and Anthropic. Neither company is acting responsibly. They are racing straight to self-improving superintelligence and gambling with our lives. More thoughts below.

Salute to my bros on not just pushing the brands for the culture but for holding down space on 2.4 in the Latino Cultural District. Having your own business isn’t easy, respect to those that do. To many more years ma brudahs 🤟🏽

Oh cool. Have they tabulated the cost of perpetual wars, corporate subsidies, bank bailouts, tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans, mass incarceration, a healthcare system that costs more per person than any other wealthy country in the world 1/2
JUST IN: Cato Institute estimates democratic socialist policies could cost roughly $200,000,000,000,000.00 by 2036.

AND, not to forget, the near-automatic billions in military funding we send Israel? Sealed, signed, and delivered by the “fiscally responsible” free-market Right (whose people produced this same estimate, btw).

They blamed one of the few things that ensures working people actually benefit when market-rate housing gets built. In that piece I also criticized the timing of this decision, because anybody with a pulse, who follows the market, could see where things were headed.

While this investment is toward a (solid) development, it’s also a signal. One of the largest banks in America is making a bold bet on San Francisco’s real estate future.

As the money pours in and new developments go up, we will now have less affordable housing and less leverage to negotiate community benefits for everyday San Franciscans.

There’s NO WAY.. you mean to tell me major capital is investing in San Francisco real estate again?! Right as the Supervisors vote 9-2 to decrease affordable housing in new market-rate developments?!? Something no one could have seen coming. 😒 sfchronicle.com/realestate/a…

I wrote a piece on this a few weeks ago criticizing how foolish it was to reduce one of the biggest public benefits we derive from new development. They casted it as the problem halting development.

Yes, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors voted to reduce the inclusionary affordable housing requirement in new market-rate developments down to 5% (from what would have been 24%, to 15%, and now to just 5%). Meaning, affordable units in new fancy high rises.
