Absolutely honored to be a semi-finalist in this year’s Big Data Bowl! If you haven’t read mine and Charles Wells’s submission regarding pre-snap movement’s impact on receiver separation, you can do so here: kaggle.com/code/jonahdlubin/…

For this year's #BigDataBowl competition, my team created a project surrounding how pre-snap movement contributes to receiver openness. We found some very intriguing results that could change the discourse of receiver openness: kaggle.com/code/jonahdlubin/…

Below is one of the figures provided in the research paper. This shows the distribution of the attributes that cause receivers to get open. We can see that Deebo Samuel's openness is caused mostly by his athleticism, while Tyreek Hill's is helped out greatly by pre-snap movement.

I have spent the last 2 months creating a model to predict NFL success using collegiate data. After running the 2024 NFL Draft selections through this model, I was able to see which players and teams graded out the best: jonahlubin1.wixsite.com/jona…

2024 NFL Draft Analysis

I have spent countless hours making, optimizing, and producing predictive models for practically every single position in this year's class. I gave a success metric value, which I called a LUBIN...

Turns out that backing up stolen base throws is actually *worse* than just leaving things alone. (!!!) #SMTDataChallenge #CMSAC

COPTIMAL APPROACH FOR INFIELDERS ON STOLEN BASE ATTEMPTS This paper will cover the optimal approach that the shortstop and second baseman should take when a runner from first base steals second base. It will cover which infielder should cover second base, as well as what the positioning the other infielder should take. The determination of the optimal approach will be ultimately decided by run expectancy saved and allowed.

And here is the updated Defensive Drive Chart through week 6! The #ClevelandBrowns faced their toughest matchup so far in the 49ers, but are still very clearly top right and wildly dominant. They face the Gardner Minshew Colts this upcoming week...

This is how each team fares on the defensive side. The Cleveland Browns are unmatched in terms of their defense. They are allowing by far the fewest yards per drive, as well as the least amount of time of possession. 49ers at Browns next week... #Browns #49ers

Here is the updated Drive Chart through week 6! The #MiamiDolphins are still unmatched in terms of yards per drive, but are doing it in a non-methodical basis, using less time than most teams in the league. The Patriots finally separated themselves from the Matt Canada Steelers.

This is how each offense has done on a per-drive basis in terms of yards and time of possession. The Dolphins have the most yards per drive by a wide margin and are doing it with less time per drive than all but 5 teams... This also an anti Matt Canada and Mac Jones post.

Tyreek Hill having 8 receptions for 181 yards and 1 touchdown on only 46% snap count is unreal. When Tyreek Hill is on the field, the defense should be prepared for him to get the ball practically every time.
