England futsal players are "appalled" by the FA's decision to withdraw the team from November's Euro 2022 play-offs because of coronavirus safety fears.

According to @DougReedFutsal Uefa "had a protocol in place for futsal that included everyone being tested 7 days before the game, 2 days before the game & a further test on arrival in North Macedonia 1 day before game. We would have been in a bubble the whole time".

Shocking and appalling news as #England @FA decides to withdraw from @UEFAFutsal Euro 2022 Qualifying stage and match against North Macedonia!

Our thoughts go to #futsal community in England.
@SaveFutsal @liampalfreeman @JonnySim1
Every single other country is going ahead with their #FutsalEURO qualifiers... 🤔UEFA have all the necessary measures in place to ensure player and staff safety. @FA once again using COVID as a poorly-disguised excuse. Pretending this is for our own welfare is beyond hypocrisy.
We have regrettably decided to withdraw @England from next week's #FutsalEURO qualifying play-offs in North Macedonia:

Disappointed to see funding being stopped for all England futsal teams. I’ve had some memorable experiences being part of the England squad growing up and it’s sad to see that others won’t be able to experience the same.

Futsal helped Max Kilman reach the Premier League so why is the FA slashing funding and scrapping the England team?
Jonny Sim retweeted
Thank you @SkySports for giving the @England players a voice. It’s shameful that @FA still haven’t listened to the players and it’s tarnishing their reputation as an NGB. We really need @Sport_England to challenge them on so many levels.

Scathing article from @ghostgoal for @SkySports that expertly highlights the mistakes the FA are making with futsal and the hugely negative consequences of their poorly-considered decisions. The media are listening, why aren’t the @FA? #FutsalForAll @SaveFutsal @Sport_England
Max Kilman’s rise puts the spotlight on the FA decision to cut futsal funding — and they should be embarrassed by it.
England team not even training at St George’s Park for a crucial playoff. Spoke to the players of a game feeling abandoned. skysports.com/football/news/…

The curious holes in Clarke’s story may explain FA’s refusal to justify plans to axe futsal and decimate grassroots football were revealed.
(Apart from the bizarre 3rd-hand FA “source” on here dismissing the cuts 🤔)
Essentially, it’s get away with what you can until rumbled
FA chairman Greg Clarke started the ‘Project Big Picture’ process, was in every meeting, wanted an ‘execution plan’ for it, and resumed talks in September.
Then when it leaked he condemned it as a power grab and said he’d ceased involvement in early May. theguardian.com/football/202…

Please spread this message with everyone you know...
A chance to express the impact of the FA's decision to cut funding which goes way beyond just financial reasons to each and everyone of us and future players/coaches/referees/administrators/volunteers ⤵️⤵️
Great opportunity for futsal clubs to share the reality of the impact the @FA decision to stop funding futsal.

Are you not worried @KellySimmo1 that like previous strategies written by the @FA that if the going gets a little tough, these will be washed away and replaced with something else that suits them more? How do we even know this will bear fruit in 4 yrs or even 2?

This is how much futsal means to people. @FA - please watch this and see the devastating effects of your disproportionate funding cuts and axing of the national futsal team. youtube.com/watch?v=kgoj8d0v…

Ask your local sports clubs: football rugby/netball/hockey/gymnastics or others to share our petition with their members?

Always good to hear people like @GNev2 asking for transparency and clarity from our NGB.
Hopefully amongst all the footballing issues we can get some traction for Futsal.
Seems a lot of people have questions for the @FA recently 🤔

Are. You. Joking?
"Change must benefit clubs, fans and players; not just selective balance sheets".
A bit like The @FA selectively balancing their own sheets and benefitting those futsal players whose careers they just wiped out?
Start thinking about what you're saying, @FA.
“Change must benefit clubs, fans and players; not just selective balance sheets. In these difficult times unity, transparency and common purpose must override the interests of the few.“
