Please avoid the Niddrie area until further notice. Follow @PSOSEdinburgh for further updates.
#OpMoonbeam resources are supporting officers in Hay Avenue to deal with significant fireworks disorder. Officers are being attacked with fireworks, petrol bombs and other projectiles. Some local roads are closed. Please avoid the area for the time-being while we respond.

Policy-makers in Scotland don't 'get' the significance of early child development. But increasing numbers of parents do. This blog tells their story. And confirms the nonsense of our ridiculously early school starting age. @suzannezeedyk @KateJohnston3 upstart.scot/dont-worry-your…

Thousands of dedicated public servants worked to develop the plans known as β€˜Operation Unicorn’ and when the time sadly came, ensure these plans were well implemented, so that Scotland could pay a fitting tribute to The Queen. My thanks to all of them - they did Her Majesty proud
Her Majesty The Queen has departed Scotland for the last time. Formal events in Scotland end as we continue to mourn. We've seen what The Queen meant to people in Scotland. First Minister @NicolaSturgeon thanks those who helped Scots pay respects. ℹ️ bit.ly/FinalFarewellHMQ

A pitch perfect speech by a prince turned king. Charles III honoured his mother; presented the monarchy as safe in his hands, with William’s help; and offered an olive branch to Harry and Meghan:

Please don’t get tired of being a good person with a good heart. I know it sucks being taken advantage of and feeling like it’s better to be cold-hearted - but people like you matter & you are so important in this world.

I can’t even imagine what would happen if teachers and school staffs only worked their contractual hours, only fulfilled their contractual duties and only used the resources their schools provided.

Thanks to all the Early Years practitioners, families and children who have made this first summer of W. Lothian nurseries being open so memorable. Today is the final day of nursery for any child starting P1, and we wish them well for starting primary school on Tues 17 August.
