One of the smartest players in the game speaking about how the game is changing where it’s faster…but (in his words) dumber.
This is what pretty much all high level hockey people will tell you. The players have never been more skilled, but there’s a severe lack of hockey IQ and creativity.
This starts in youth hockey.
-The lack of unstructured play.
-Coaching systems instead of creativity.
-Too much emphasis on winning and players not having freedom to make mistakes.
-Skating around implements that look good on instagram rather than drills with decision making.
The game has changed because how we coach kids and the business of hockey have changed at the youth levels.
The fact that Kucherov is speaking to it is wild.

My column on why Brendan Gallagher's career with the Canadiens shouldn't have ended the way it did. What was the downside to playing him in Game 5 against the Hurricanes? There wasn't any #Habs: montrealgazette.com/sports/h…

Brendan Gallagher would give everything he has to keep this Canadiens season alive, but he won’t be turned to in Friday’s elimination game against the Hurricanes. @EricEngels tells us why that might be a mistake. sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/can…

I honestly don’t understand where the notion came from that Gallagher is now too slow?
The Canadiens need to re-establish a forecheck and win battles which are things Gally does well and he can drag the rest of the guys into the fight even in limited minutes.

I've been a Marty guy all year.
How the HELL is Gallagher not getting a SHIFT in this series.
If you're only going to play Veleno 6 minutes, just play your heart and soul, guy. #GoHabsGo
Just touching base with @FriedgeHNIC, who's still at the rink while I'm waiting for Habs avail to start at the hotel. Gallagher, Kapanen, Laine all skating, which would indicate they'll be scratched from Game 5. Arber Xhekaj might be coming in, but we'll see. Neither him nor Struble skating.

Taking a single high dose (25–30g) of creatine not only reverses the cognitive impairment caused by 21 hours of sleep deprivation, it can boost brain function beyond fully rested levels
Neuroimaging reveals the mechanism:
->High doses of creatine quickly replenish brain energy stores, enhancing neuronal function and metabolic efficiency under extreme stress
This makes high-dose creatine a powerful tool for situations like jet lag, red-eye flights, and unavoidable sleep loss

KIDS: Beck Malenstyn never had a point-per-game season in junior hockey. But he did:
-Win a U18 gold medal for Team Canada
-Win a WHL championship
-Win an AHL championship
And now he’s a full-time NHLer.
Not everyone can be the leading scorer of their team. If you’re not a prominent offensive player and want to make it to the next level, it’s all about doing the little things and what you’re willing to do for the TEAM.
Look at this blocked shot from last night. And more importantly, look at his teammates up on the bench yelling and on the ice helping him out. This guy is a winner and makes his team better not only on the ice but with the culture as well.
Teams need all different types of players to fulfill roles. If you’re not Tage Thompson, be Beck Malenstyn.
