It's that time. Choose your champion for a chance to win $50 from the Spurs Fan Shop! I'll also match that with a Spurs Give donation. Must be following me and comment your letter to be eligible. The drawing will be held when a player hits his line. Good luck!

The NBA season began and basketball stars are looming large — some of them more than others, like Victor Wembanyama, the 7-foot-4-inch forward-center for the San Antonio Spurs. @jon_wertheim reports next Sunday.
Victor Wembanyama is now tied with Nazr Mohammed (18-year career) on the all-time reg. season blocks list. He's already two blocks away from surpassing Kobe Bryant (20-year career).

After the game tonight, I asked Victor Wembanyama if it’s frustrating to be unable to pick up where they left off last season, especially when some other teams have.
He started by started his response by declining to characterize it as frustrating.

Jeremy Sochan will be the No. 1 pick of the G League Draft, sources told @hoopshype. Sochan will join the Dallas Mavericks’ affiliate, Texas Legends, and attempt to work his way back to the NBA. He’s averaged 9.9 points and 5.4 rebounds in four seasons with the Spurs and Knicks.
Update heading into tonight @ Dallas:
- Note: Alperen Sengun is now Wembanyama's most-blocked opponent, at 14. Jackson Jr. and Jokic are 2nd at 13.
The Wemby Block Tracker has been upgraded! Here's where Victor Wembanyama stands one game into the new season:
As usual, I'll be updating this after every game. It logs every player he's ever blocked, who's blocked him, how often he's blocked each team, and more. airalamo.com/posts/list-ever…

I pointed out maybe Chet's high center of gravity played into the big man toppling so easily.
Fox: "Somebody grabs you like that and you're flying on the floor like that, you got other problems to worry about. I didn't throw him that hard, I promise you."
The Thunder earned every bit of that. Disciplined defense, buried big shots all game, and that Mara sequence was impressive. Obviously some things to address, but you gotta tip your cap to a team that was better tonight
