MPs’ offices have changed, but the way staff are employed has not. @GMB_union is calling on MPs to support their One Parliament One Employer campaign for a single, central employer for Parliament. Partner Content

My Budget today will help families with the pressures they face now. It will back businesses and entrepreneurs, invest in Britain's future, and strengthen our national security. A plan to get through this moment and build a stronger Britain.

Hahahahah marginal tax rate of 57% god the system is broken for graduates
Most tax calculators tell you how much tax you pay *now*. Ours also shows how much tax you'll pay on your next £1. Your marginal rate. We'll be publishing straight after the Budget. But here's a preview - I'd love to get feedback. taxpolicy.org.uk/uk-tax-calc…

The list sent by Harold Wilson to his cabinet of “little things that mean a lot”, including the protection of pubs, concessionary fares for the elderly, empty office blocks and “the future of the pint”. Echoes of this in Burnham’s small but popular policies today.

When I met Angela Rayner to campaign for change to overly aggressive council tax debt collection, with its unprecedented rapid escalation to balliffs, she nodded like most politicians do. I explained it was destructive for individuals, councils and the economy. She listened more then said she'd change it. I was sceptical. Yet a consultation was launched within weeks and delightfully the change announced within 18mths (its in place from next April) - bullet train pace for politics. I've a rule that if I campaign for a politician (of any party) to do something, and they do it, I say thank you. Its important to recognise it. So thank you so much Angela Rayner for listening and more importantly acting. The changes coming are a great start.
I promised we'd make council tax fairer, and I’m getting on with the job. Too many working people have seen council tax debt spiral before they had the chance to get help. That's why we're introducing more time to pay, clearer warnings if you miss a payment and more support from councils. Thanks to @MartinSLewis and @mmhpi for their tireless campaigning to make this change happen. Here's everything you need to know ⬇️

If the I Paper had spent more than 30 seconds researching, they would have noted that the deal was done in 2015. Burnham didn't become Mayor until 2017.

This “email” image is being shared all over here, including by Nadine Dorries It claims to show Labour instructing an “All Labour X Users” mailing list to praise Burnham's speech It takes very little critical thinking to see it's fake - but here we are

Enough is enough. For years, people have been expected to put up with Avanti’s cancellations, delays, overcrowding, and a service that has failed them time and time again. So my Labour government is bringing Avanti West Coast into public ownership at the earliest opportunity in March next year. That means passengers, not shareholders, will come first. More investment, fewer delays, and a renewed focus on getting the basics right. We're putting essential services back in public hands and building a railway that actually works for the people who use it.

If a foreign state has attacked the UK, you’d think all British politicians would unite in condemning that state. Not Reform. Their first response is to lash out at the Government, and try and make political capital out of the incident.
Counterterrorism police in the UK are currently investigating whether a suspected bomb plot at an RAF base is linked to Iran while letting illegal migrants, including Iranian terrorists, stream across our open borders. None of this makes sense. Our political class is a joke.

I said it in 2020 and I’ll say it again. If you leave a home empty long-term in the middle of a housing crisis, it should be seized. Today’s announcement is great news.
Don’t know why you are surprised Emily thornberry said as such in opposition in 2020

It’s called campaigning, and it’s also a signal that Labour don’t take the electorate for granted. No one is greater than the people or the communities we represent regardless of the office they hold.
Labour are worried. They've had the Foreign Secretary, the Chancellor, the Mayor of London & the Prime Minister out in Holborn & St Pancras - but we've got you. Hundreds of thousands of you who care & are making a difference! Donate today to help us win: donatetothe.greenparty.org.u…

Today's announcement mandating every phone, tablet and laptop sold in Britain must run default scanning and filtering software is a terrifying escalation. Our warnings about this were previously dismissed as "wild hyperbole", but today the state has proven us right. This legislation will not make children safer - instead, it delegates child protection and policing to unaccountable Silicon Valley giants, while subjecting the entire British public to automated population-wide surveillance. Let's call this what it is: state-mandated spyware in our pockets.
👁️There's no such thing as "device level controls for children" only digital ID checks for EVERYONE. No one in a democracy should need to show their passport just to get online. These plans would replace efforts for meaningful tech and parental responsibility with performative, authoritarian government control and technology that is ripe for abuse.

We spend a lot of time worrying about young people being radicalised online. But perhaps we’ve been looking in the wrong direction. I think Britain urgently needs to have a serious conversation about the radicalisation of our grandads one Facebook post, dodgy meme and furious comment section at a time.
Count the number of assaults going on here, NOT carried out by the security staff.. They think it’s a fucking free for all to grab people’s hair and get digs in! #Reform
