Tonight, ahead of Wednesday's Budget, 128 MPs and peers have signed my letter to the Chancellor on student loans. It builds on the letter Sadik Al-Hassan sent in August, and the cross-party support keeps growing. My recent parliamentary questions found more than 2 million graduates saw their debt go up despite making regular repayments. Nurses, teachers and engineers paying in every month and still falling behind. As a Plan 2 graduate, I know what it's like to sign up to one deal and be made to repay on another. No other lender could get away with it. On Wednesday, the Chancellor must: ❌ Stop the Plan 2 threshold freeze before it hits pay packets in April 2027
📉 Scrap RPI for a fairer interest rate, like CPI
🔒 Guarantee loan terms will never again be changed retrospectively No party that's governed in recent decades comes to this with clean hands. That's why it needs all of us to fix it. A generation was promised a deal. Wednesday is the chance for this new Chancellor to honour it. 👇 Full letter below.

🎖️I've brought together 103 MPs from 11 parties & @PoppyLegion with a simple Budget ask: Stop cutting injured veterans' benefits just because they've received military compensation. Civilian compensation is protected. Veterans should be too. Chancellor, this injustice must end

Exactly this. 👏
I listened to Ed Davey on the @BBCr4today this morning, and frankly, I think he missed the point. The idea that we're keeping the triple lock to help millennials is at best for the birds, and at worst downright insulting. I say that as a millennial. The case for the triple lock is a worthy one - stopping pensioner poverty. I want that as much as anyone. But pensioners are now less likely to be in poverty than children or working age adults. We talk about fairness, yet our answer is to give the same increase to every pensioner, treating the one choosing between heating and eating exactly the same as the one with millions in the bank. I can see no moral or fiscal case for above inflation rises for millionaires. That money should go where it's needed most - to everyone in poverty, not just one group. It could help fund free personal care, a policy that would disproportionately benefit older people. Ed is right that we shouldn't pit one generation against another. But intergenerational inequality is already one of the defining injustices of our time, and this would further entrench it. Worse, it gaslights an entire generation into believing it's for our benefit. Telling millennials we're keeping the triple lock to help us in 30 years' time is nonsense. We're on course to be the first generation worse off than our parents. We're locked out of the housing market, paying higher taxes, repaying student loans that never seem to shrink, and putting off having children because of the cost of living. I joined this party because I care about fairness and tackling inequality, and that has to include inequality between generations. This line, and this decision, fails on both counts. Ed needs to think again.

The Conservatives knew the Govt cuts were coming, yet they still chose to mislead residents with low tax claims in May. This is what you get from a party that cares more about control of Town Hall than delivering for residents. Wandsworth deserves better.

#Wandsworth residents are being hit with a staggering 94% Council tax rise by the Conservatives -- the very party that spent the May elections promising to keep our Council tax low. #Shameful Before After

Sarah is an outstanding leader with a proven track record in delivering for Londoners. She fully grasps the big issues facing our capital, including those affecting my community in Putney. I hope Liberal Democrats across our city will get behind her! 🙌
We’re proud to say our MP for Richmond Park, Sarah Olney, put herself forward to be considered @LibDems candidate for Mayor of London in 2028. London deserves a real alternative to Labour and the Liberal Democrats are ready to provide it. Sarah’s Words: facebook.com/share/r/1DWoTDD…

I’m really concerned to hear @LBHF propose to scale-back their bid to the Structures Fund for Hammersmith Bridge. We need the ambition to get public transport reinstated on the bridge - not to to trap in aspic what we have today. Thats why I have asked to address H&F’s Cabinet.

Locally, we are floored by the news that Hammersmith Bridge will not be restored to its original state. Liberal Democrats, along with the community, will continue to campaign hard for the Bridge to reopen properly. MP Sarah Olney has written to the minister 👇

This U-turn is incredibly disappointing and another blow to Putney residents. Labour have elected officials in all the right places, but this botched £128m plan will only prolong Putney's traffic chaos. DfT must step up and end this farce for good.
