This is not a partisan issue. Senator Lucas deserves the presumption of innocence like anyone else. But a leader's first statement on serious corruption charges (which THIS IS) should be about the people she was elected to serve, not a list of political grievances, which is all I am seeing out of Virginia today. We see the same pattern in Maryland. The political elite close ranks when it's one of their own, and the public pays for it. We can do better than that.
