Probably the worst summer endured by a Championship club.
- Manager refuses to return, eventually leaves along with his coaching staff.
- Training ground facilities not ready for the first two weeks of pre-season. - players sent home to train on their own.
- No public pre-season friendlies.
- 3 separate club embargos.
- 3 window embargo, no fee transfer or fee loan signings until Jan 2027.
- players not paid on time in 4 of the past 5 months.
- 17 players leave over the summer.
- All the clubs main goal-scorers leave. Windass and Smith walk out of contracts after handing notices in.
- Players like Gassama and Musaba leave for cut price deals to repay debt / some wages.
- clubs top young academy prospects leave for premier league clubs.
- players taking strike action over unpaid wages.
- no new signings.
- just 11 players left in the squad over the age of 21.
- North stand at Hillsborough closed due to safety concerns, despite selling 7/8,000 season tickets in it. No communication as to what’s happening to those fans.
