A lie will easily get you out of a scrape, and yet, strangely and beautifully, rapture possesses you when you have taken the scrape and left out the lie. - Charles Montague
Large companies need to get the memo. Hire fewer people, and pay them more. This helps employees, reduces monopolization of markets, and increases competition.
You have no enemies, you say? Alas, my friend, the boast is poor, He who has mingled in the fray Of duty, that the brave endure,
Must have made foes.
If you have none,
Small is the work that you have done. You've hit no traitor on the hip, You've dashed no cup from
perjured lip, You've never set the wrong to right. You've been a coward in the fight.

When I record myself, I always act slightly unnatural. I try to be completely normal, but can鈥檛 ignore the fact that I鈥檓 being recorded even if I know it鈥檚 only me who has to watch it back.
This is related to the Yerkes-Dodson Law. The effect isn鈥檛 necessarily negative on my performance, but the point I鈥檓 trying to make is that there is an effect on my performance.
This is extremely important today, because we are essentially always being watched. Even encrypted messaging apps have a contact graph and other metadata that allows them to put together a profile of you (that they can then sell). Most people do not realize this. Once you do realize it, though, it鈥檚 nearly impossible to forget about it, and it impacts how you act.
I鈥檝e used this analogy before: would you talk honestly to a friend if you knew someone else was listening at the door?
Privacy is a prerequisite for freedom. The number of people who are already aware of this is way too low.
I love animals, but I do increasingly see people prioritizing animal lives and their well-being over humans. As we lose our humanity, perhaps we identify closer with animals.
The innovations coming from AI are practically really high-level corroborations. The models aren't composing new information from scratch, but they work really well at human collaboration. It's the end result in the age of information.
About 10 years ago Windows search in Explorer just stopped working after one update. It hasn't worked for me on any computer since then. When did this become acceptable behavior? Spotlight/Search on MacOS is instant.

AI is showing us that a lot of what we thought were software problems, are actually people problems.
We can't switch to AI spam filters fast enough. The current email spam system is archaic garbage, and it's time we move on to something that works.
Aria and other newer programming languages designed for AI may start to take off in the next few years. I see this as an underrepresented category of technology right now considering the potential gains in efficiency.
McMaster-Carr's website is the absolute gold standard for UI/UX and web development. It should be studied as the pinnacle of web engineering in every classroom. If your site or application isn't as fast, smooth, reliable, and easy to use as theirs, then get back to work.

Intelligent people hate arguing and are incredibly skilled at the art of letting go.
The concept of the presumption of innocence really means nothing if some people are waiting for trial for years in a jail cell. At that point they are treated as guilty and going to trial to prove their innocence. We have so many empty platitudes.
USPS is the only place where you can walk in and there are 3 people in front of you, and you're happy it's only going to take 45 minutes.
I hate electric stovetops because everything sticks horribly. Many people don't realize it, but electric stovetops cycle to manage heat, that cycling causes pans to expand and contract rapidly which causes food to stick. Nothing sticks on my gas stovetops with constant heat.
Gambling on already-known information or controlled decisions should not be legal. If insiders can bet on their own choices or private data, it鈥檚 not a free market.
