What's your private key? 1? >...what? No? 2? >It's 384 bits you dumbass. That's 35 orders of magnitude larger than the estimated number of atoms in the known universe. ...3? >[visibly sweating] Th-this is ridiculous...

Some stats on #php2shell. In the 10 hours before it was publicly announced, across the @Cloudflare network we saw thousands of attempts to exploit it. That jumped to tens of thousands in the 45 minutes post announcement, hundreds of thousands within 2 hours, and millions now.

This is what I have been telling everyone who will listen. The most valuable thing the frontier labs can now do for crypto (and math more broadly) is publish their *negative* results. What ideas they tried, how much compute they used, and what obstacles they found.

And specifically for cryptanalysts who are working with models and for the labs: Folks, what we need right now are *negative* results. Silence is the worst thing you could be publishing.

We’re releasing a broad range of new mathematical results produced by an internal frontier model. We’ve been consulting with the independent Advisory Group on Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence at the Institute for Advanced Study, and we have drawn on their advice and public recommendations to inform how we release these results. github.com/openai/math

If I am unusual and outstanding would that suffice?
Federal Agencies can now award up to $25,000 cash to an employee who is "highly exceptional and unusually outstanding.”

We are living in interesting times in Cryptography: McEliece security being reduced drastically, new records in RSA factoring (saweis.net/posts/rsa-896.htm…) showing attacks on RSA-1024 to be practical, a concrete attack on Chaum's blind signatures (github.com/ucsd-hacc/NSNFSSS…),
