Someone said a helmet specifically designed for a one-eyed soldier would be cool and I have to agree.
This spangenhelm with eye-plate from The Visitors (1993) goes so hard. The rare exception when a half-helmet works.
The main excuse for showing no helmets or these disgusting "half-helmets" in movies is always, "But we can't see the actor's face, and how will you recognize anyone!"
But here's a solution. If you want to see the actor's face have them wear a normal helmet with the visor raised. And when they close the visors to protect their faces make the helmet's design recognizable like a painted bascinet or fluted sallet. No one watches the Mandalorian and has a hard time keeping track of who the Mandalorian is. There are so many cool helmet designs in medieval history that each actor could essentially have their own helmet type. A plume here, a hounskull visor there, an armet with ridged crest over here and what about an armet with just a round top for the other guy there! Believe it or not, but cutting a helmet in half is more lazy and less creative than simply choosing a unique historical helmet for each character to make everyone recognizable even when their visors are closed. Combine that with ACTUALLY HAVING COLORFUL HERALDRY for once and only mole-rats couldn't keep track of who's who. My rant is over.
