This is me! Most of the trick, incidentally, is not getting too wrapped up in your original hypothesis, which was ALWAYS probably going to be wrong. If your experiments don't turn out the way you expected, that's actually good - it's new science. Publish the story you actually have, not the one you wanted.

Was just discussing with a colleague that we are SO much more productive now that our kids older (mine: 10,11,13). To those with young kids who feel unproductive don’t stress! Productivity has natural ups and downs. Don’t beat yourself up for a perceived “slump” #AcademicChatter – at Nashville, TN

Absolutely. A very practical benefits of doing a research project is to get a letter of recommendation for residency. Working with 1 person will allow you to establish a strong relationship which=better letter. Some of the best rec letters come from research mentors🧫🧬🔬🥼 – at Nashville, TN
Dear medical students: it’s far more beneficial to work with 1-2 mentors longitudinally on a research project then try to do a bunch of projects with a bunch of different people. It makes for much stronger letters too.
