Thanks to ESF for their work on e-bike safety. London’s delivery riders rely on e-bikes, but unsafe batteries, chargers and modifications can put lives at risk.
Stronger regulation of these products is needed, alongside @LondonFire #ChargeSafe campaign, to keep Londoners safe.
Hosted by @JamesAsser MP, we invited MPs and stakeholders in Parliament yesterday for the launch of our new research with @ucl: bit.ly/4k6jsL1 The findings highlight the need to look beyond individual riders and address the wider barriers to safer e-bike use.

Having carefully considered the application and the views of council’s representatives, as well as the developer, I approved the proposed Shoreditch Works scheme in Hackney at yesterday’s public hearing.

@MayorofLondon's call-in process since January to 10,058, a significant milestone for the Mayor who has committed to get London building.
Thanks to @MoversShakersUK for invitation to speak on how we can drive more investment into the Build to Rent sector. The sector now plays a vital role in London’s overall housing supply, and @MayorofLondon's draft London Plan promotes a positive approach to BtR schemes.
Today, having carefully considered the views of the council, supporters and objectors, and the developer, I approved the proposals at Phoenix Academy in the London borough of Hammersmith & Fulham for 307 homes, including 90 affordable homes (37%) all at social rent.
This brings the total number of homes approved via @MayorofLondon's call-in process since January 2026 to 9,980.

Fantastic news that housing starts in London were up nearly 300% in the last year according to the latest government data released today.
These are very difficult times for homebuilding, but under this @MayorofLondon City Hall is doing more than every before to support delivery.
These are tough times for housebuilding in England, but new housing statistics released this morning show welcome signs of progress:
✅Housing starts in Q2 of this year were up 6% on the previous quarter (a 20% increase on the same quarter last year).
✅London saw the biggest increase with starts up a phenomenal 298% on last year.
✅Units within outline residential applications are up 41% from a year earlier.
✅Permission in principle decisions on brownfield register sites more than doubled (a 79% increase on the same quarter last year).
Over the past 26 months, we’ve undertaken the most rapid, holistic and radical overhaul of the housing and planning system in decades.
Despite the strong headwinds, we are going to stay the course and ensure the country enjoys high and sustainable rates of housebuilding in the years ahead.
Ilford has a vital role to play in London's future. @MayorofLondon and @RedbridgeLive are working on a new Ilford Opportunity Area Planning Framework, and local voices must be at the heart of that conversation. Share your views via the consultation👉ilfordoapf.commonplace.is/
