Why Party Politics Doesn't Work youtu.be/9FCUne6tWQY via @YouTube
Not that Keir doesn't look fab in glitter, but I prefer to provide solutions over protests. That's why I've been offering #directdemocracy since 2017. And will for #GE2024. Come on #forestofdean, enough complaining - let's do things differently.
Regardless of the pros and cons of a proposal, if a party donor has more influence than you over a national decision, you're not living in a democracy.

Tonight you will be able to vote on #Eurovision . It's easy. Next May I'll again be offering constituents the chance to vote in Parliament. It's just as easy. Don't be ruled by habit.

The Baron Bigod cheese gets delivered to us in these lovely wooden round boxes, with lids.
If any crafty types, or schools would like some, they're free to collect.

1/3 “Representative #Democracy is a compromised version of true democracy”, argues @JulianBurrett, who is making his third bid to become MP for Forest of Dean in the UK with the mission to reform the existing parliamentary system.

I wish divided England would calm down and learn that bad language is used on both sides . Right wingers are not Nazis , Lineker never used the word , Left wingers are not woke or snowflakes , those that voted to remain in the EU are not traitors .

Forest of Dean constituents could've voted on this if they'd elected me in 2019. If you want #DirectDemocracy in your constituency, contact me at valuemy.vote
Make me your 91st follow @JamesBlunt, you beautiful man, and you will change the face of UK democracy just as you changed the face of modern popular music: slightly. #DirectDemocracy
The House of Commons is voting on amendments to the controversial Public Order Bill. Had I been appointed in 2019, Foresters would be voting on this directly. Maybe next time, eh? #DirectDemocracy #PublicOrderBill
I can curate the @google news feed on my phone and tell it what subjects I'm interested or not interested in. Except, it seems death and distress of others. For this, there is no 'I'm not interested in misery button'. It's so ingrained as 'news' we don't even notice any more.
1/3 Lorde Sharpe of Epsom wants the #PublicOrderBill because, “We are listening to the public who are fed up with seeing day after day protesters blocking roads.”
2/3 He’s right. We are fed up. With unresponsive ‘democracy’. Protestors are fed up (or they wouldn’t protest) and the public is suffering. The answer is not curtailment of rights but having a responsive democracy that doesn’t let it get this far in the first place.
3/3 The solution is not reduced rights. It’s increased rights them. #DirectDemocracy is a part of the answer. Listen to the people before they feel the need to shout.
Only 1% of the estimated 2 million voters who do not possess the necessary documents have applied for voter ID. For a problem that does not exist. Had I been voted in, Forest of Dean constituents would have been able to vote on this monumental change directly. #directdemocracy

Do not assume that everyone has a passport or driving licence.
Or an address, or bank account/statement in their name.
Don't assume everyone has a fixed address to order a postal vote.
Voter ID is unnecessary, and one more barrier to democracy.
#VoterID
At a time when we've never needed more democracy, we are forced to accept less. I know so many people - some poor, some reliant, some disorganised, some overwhelmed - that this will rob of their professed universal right to have a voice in our nation. So sad. #directdemocracy
