I’m joining Royal Road’s Writathon.
The goal is simple: write a lot, stay ahead, and use that momentum to push The Shattered Strands toward daily releases, or as close to daily as I can manage.
For readers, that also means more chapters hitting Royal Road for free.
This may be a terrible idea. Let’s find out.

Chapters 20 and 21 of The Shattered Strands are now live and free on both Royal Road and Patreon.
Chapter 20 deals with the aftermath of the Instance run, a very tempting System oak, and Beck getting his hands on a long-awaited upgrade.
Chapter 21 turns that upgrade into an experiment involving monster cores, a workshop, and the questionable confidence that comes from having exactly two tries.

Chapter 19 of The Shattered Strands is now free on both Royal Road and Patreon.
Beck’s first Instance run takes the team through a cemetery, where the undead are the easy part and a prowler is much better at choosing its fights than they are.
And after seven years stuck at Level 10, Beck finally gets some very good news.

Grady cupped his hands around his mouth. “Your mother was a hamster!”
Wren looked at him. “They’re fucking gorillas, Grady.”
“Then it’s an insult to the hamster!”

“So you’re making me bait?”
“You’re the one it keeps trying to kill.”
Wren considered that for a moment, then grinned. “Fair point.”

The Writathon continues, and I’m trying to catch up!
Chapter 17 of The Shattered Strands is now free on both Royal Road and Patreon.
Beck’s first real Instance run is finally here. New team, new environment, and at least one person who may be enjoying the danger a little too much.
