The hard boiled eggs at the hotel breakfast weren't boiled there. They came peeled, in brine. The foodservice case is a 25 lb tub. The label reads hard cooked eggs, water, citric acid, sodium benzoate and nisin preparation as preservatives. Shelf life is 56 days in the cooler. A plant cooks the eggs in a continuous boiler, cracks and peels them with rollers and water jets, and floats them in the tub. The kitchen opens it, drains a hotel pan's worth and sets it out. A peeled egg is wet, high in protein and sits at a pH bacteria like, so the acid drops the pH and the benzoate stops yeast and mold. Nisin is a peptide made by a dairy bacterium, and it's in there for Listeria. A 2019 Listeria outbreak traced to a Georgia plant that peels eggs made 7 people sick in 5 states, hospitalized 4 and killed 1.

Modified food starch is starch that was treated with a chemical. The label doesn't say which one. The FDA rule lists what the plant is allowed to do to it: soak it in hydrochloric or sulfuric acid, bleach it with peroxide or chlorine, react it with acetic anhydride, succinic anhydride, phosphorus oxychloride or propylene oxide, or cut it down with enzymes. Each treatment has its own cap, but regardless of the method, the ingredient still says modified food starch. Every one of those treatments fixes something plain cornstarch can't do. Cross-linking ties the starch chains together so a canned gravy stays thick through the retort and a stir, while acetylation and propylene oxide keep a frozen sauce from weeping when it thaws. Acid thinning makes it pour, and cooking and drying it ahead of time is what lets instant pudding set with cold milk. That's why Campbell's cream of mushroom lists it 4th, Jell-O instant pudding lists it 2nd after sugar, and Marie Callender's, Stouffer's and Hidden Valley contain modified food starch.

Nutella is 13% hazelnuts. The first two ingredients are sugar and palm oil and together they're more than half the jar. Ferrero doesn't hide it, the percentage is printed on the label in Europe. Ferrero buys around a quarter of the world's hazelnut crop every year, mostly from Turkey, which grows about 70% of the supply. In 2014 they bought Turkey's biggest hazelnut company so nobody could get ahead of them. In 2017 they changed the recipe to more sugar and more milk powder without announcing it, and a German consumer group noticed the cocoa went down too because the color got lighter.

This dude literally made up false claims about Jaylen Brown to make him look bad yesterday. Then hours later admitted that he lied. Now, he’s switching up again and tryna bash JB because he got caught lying and is salty. 🤦🏼‍♂️😭
Brian Scalabrine goes OFF on Jaylen Brown 😳 “Jaylen Brown wants to be the victim in all of this, and this is the way he’s doing it now. He’s using me, or his PR team, or whatever it is, to play the victim, and he’s not going to take responsibility for it. That’s fine…I just feel like he wants to say whatever he wants, and he doesn’t want to be held accountable, just like on his Twitch. He wants his legacy to remain intact, and he’s not going to take responsibility for the other stuff that he brings up. And this is just the beginning of it.” (Via @SiriusXMNBA )

The citric acid in your food is grown on a black mold. Pfizer figured out how to mass produce it and it's how Pfizer learned to make penicillin. Nearly all of it, about 2 million tons a year, comes from a fungus called Aspergillus niger fed sugar in steel tanks. The mold eats the sugar and gives off citric acid. The acid gets filtered off, crystallized and sold as a white powder. A Pfizer chemist named James Currie got it running at scale in 1919, and by 1939 a pound had gone from $1.25 to 20 cents. The deep tanks Pfizer built for citric acid are the ones it used for penicillin in 1941, when it was the only company making it by fermentation. About 60% of it is made in China, and the US has had tariffs on Chinese citric acid since 2009 at the request of ADM, Cargill and Tate & Lyle. Sprite, Gatorade, Hunt's tomatoes, Kraft mac and cheese, Pillsbury frosting and the liquid eggs on a hotel line all have it. It's the most used acid in food because it's cheap, it's sour, it keeps cut fruit from browning, and it holds pH where bacteria don't grow. A 2018 paper described 4 people who reported joint pain and swelling after eating foods with manufactured citric acid, but the authors wrote that nothing had been proven. No large scale controlled study has been run since.

The MTA is a public transit system, not a private business. It should not be profitable.
So the state comptroller says the #mta is still losing money.. a lot of it! Why ? #gdny

It’s not hyperbolic to say Marcus Spears Jr could have one of the most impactful freshman seasons in the country this year. 6’9, 7’2 WS — an uber-versatile forward that bodes high-end tools, motor & rebounding with ↑ off-ball defending + connective skills. A name to get hip to.

Malik Ambar, the Ethiopian who ruled in India as prime minister in the late 1500s. Born in the late 16th century in what is now Ethiopia, Malik Ambar was captured as a child and sold through the Indian Ocean slave trade. He was taken to India, where Africans—often referred to as Habshis or Sidis—were commonly recruited into military service. After gaining his freedom, Malik Ambar distinguished himself through intelligence, discipline, and leadership. By around 1600, he had risen to become the prime minister and regent of the Ahmadnagar Sultanate, effectively ruling the state on behalf of its young sultan. Malik Ambar reorganized the kingdom’s administration, reformed its revenue system, strengthened defenses, and founded cities, including the settlement that would later become Aurangabad. He is especially remembered for his use of guerrilla warfare, which repeatedly frustrated and stalled the expansion of the powerful Mughal Empire. Mughal emperors wrote about him with open hostility—because they could not defeat him. Despite being born enslaved, Malik Ambar became a kingmaker, general, and statesman whose authority reshaped politics in the Deccan for more than two decades. He ruled until his death in 1626, leaving behind a legacy that challenges narrow ideas about African history and global power. Malik Ambar’s life is a reminder that African influence has never been confined to the continent—and that leadership can emerge from the most unlikely beginnings.

What did the Iranian soccer team say that caused them to get banned to enter the States during World Cup again? Nothing.
i genuinely can’t believe people are defending china rn… imagine if america started banning football from every country where one of their players said one offhanded negative statement about one of their presidents… it would be over 😭😭😭😭

You all need to understand that there is a well-funded movement to kill Wikipedia as an institution. The dream of an internet that provided universal access to knowledge was a mirage. It threatened too many powerful people, so now we have AI summaries and illiteracy.
Can we also talk about how Wikipedia entries are no longer at the top of a search 😭

🇮🇷|Iran moves its base stations to an altitude of 20 kilometers: 200 drones, no SIM cards required, and no reliance on any nodes that Washington could sever. December 7, 2026. The first satellite of the DotOne LEO (Low Earth Orbit) constellation is set to launch with the event to be broadcast live. By the end of the year, 200 HAPS (High-Altitude Platform Station) communication drones will be deployed in the stratosphere, over 20 kilometers above the ground. Spaced at precise intervals, they will function as aerial base stations for the DotOne network. In remote villages and hard-to-reach areas, users will be able to access the internet directly via their mobile phones no large receivers or SIM cards needed. DotOneCell is poised to become one of the region’s most valuable pieces of communication infrastructure. Meanwhile, DOTO Mine will operate on DotOne’s proprietary blockchain. This is not merely a technical announcement; it is a declaration of sovereignty. 💥 20 kilometers up and mobile phones without SIM cards HAPS operate at an altitude of 20 kilometers well above commercial air traffic, most air-defense systems, and weather patterns. These are not satellites; they require no rocket launches and no waiting for specific orbital windows. They are drones that maintain continuous flight within the stratosphere, carrying communication payloads to cover designated areas on the ground. A fleet of 200 such drones, spaced strategically, will provide coverage across the entirety of Iran. They do not rely on undersea cables, foreign satellites, the SWIFT financial system, or any external nodes that could be sanctioned, severed, or blocked. The core mission of DotOneCell is to shift a portion of ground-based infrastructure into the sky. Villages will no longer require large receivers or SIM cards; users can connect to the internet directly from their mobile phones. The significance of "no SIM card" goes beyond mere convenience, it represents "disintermediation." A SIM card serves as a gateway controlled by a network operator; eliminating it means users are no longer tethered to a registration system that could be monitored, restricted, or shut down. The connection comes directly from the sky. 🎯 Eight months into the war, they are building a system that doesn't need "you." The United States says: "We are sanctioning Iran’s telecommunications sector. We are cutting off Iran’s internet access. We are isolating Iran." DotOne says: "On December 7, the first satellite launches." By the end of the year, 200 HAPS (High-Altitude Platform Stations) will take to the skies. Villages won’t need SIM cards. Our blockchain won’t need SWIFT. This is no "coincidence." It is a "strategic choice." When undersea cables can be severed, satellite communications jammed, foreign operators pressured, and access to SWIFT cut off, it's a nation’s communication sovereignty that cannot rest on any node susceptible to external control. HAPS require no undersea cables; LEO (Low Earth Orbit) satellites do not depend on foreign launch providers; and our blockchain operates independently of SWIFT. Together, these elements form a communication architecture that bypasses every node capable of being shut down by Washington. 📜 Babak Zanjani: A man once sanctioned is now building something the West cannot sever. He has faced a death sentence, imprisonment, and sanctions. Western media has labeled him a "symbol of corruption in Iran." Now, he is developing a stratospheric communication network comprising 200 unmanned aerial vehicles alongside a constellation of LEO satellites. A man targeted by the Western judicial system, Western media, and Western sanctions has, in the eighth month of a war, unveiled a communication infrastructure that relies on no Western nodes whatsoever. This is not an attempt to "whitewash" his reputation; it is a record, a record showing that those whom the West sought to destroy are now building systems the West cannot cut off. ⚔️ The Mirror The U.S. claims: "We are isolating Iran." DotOne responds: "The first satellite launches on December 7th; by year-end, 200 HAPS will be airborne." The U.S. claims: "We are cutting off Iran’s internet access." DotOne responds: "Villages won’t need SIM cards they will connect directly to mobile devices." The U.S. claims: "We are sanctioning Iran’s banking and communication sectors." DotOne responds: "Our blockchain does not require SWIFT." You may sanction our banks, sever our undersea cables, or jam our satellite signals but you cannot cut off the stratosphere. You cannot sanction drones flying 20 kilometers above the earth, nor can you blockade a blockchain that never touches your servers. And a nation that deploys 200 stratospheric communication drones in the eighth month of a war is not merely "responding to a crisis." It is building a system that does not need you. Long live Iran. Long live the Resistance. Long live the Axis of Resistance.

In Latin America, a network of baby farms & child trafficking supplied babies to private clinics for organ harvesting. Cases included 7 Brazilian babies destined for US clinics to be butchered for their organs, and 13 babies awaiting medical killing at a Honduran clinic in 1987.
lsꝛæI is a hub for organ & human trafficking. Hundreds of organs are harvested from impoverished donors in Latin America for profit by lsꝛæI hospitals & officials. Women are also trafficked to lsꝛæI for slave labor, w/ their documents confiscated to prevent them from escaping.
