This is absolutely brutal news. Easily my favorite venue in all of DFW. 😞

Umberto Eco, who owned 50,000 books, had this to say about home libraries:
“It is foolish to think that you have to read all the books you buy, as it is foolish to criticize those who buy more books than they will ever be able to read. It would be like saying that you should use all the cutlery or glasses or screwdrivers or drill bits you bought before buying new ones.
“There are things in life that we need to always have plenty of supplies, even if we will only use a small portion.
“If, for example, we consider books as medicine, we understand that it is good to have many at home rather than a few: when you want to feel better, then you go to the ‘medicine closet’ and choose a book. Not a random one, but the right book for that moment. That’s why you should always have a nutrition choice!
“Those who buy only one book, read only that one and then get rid of it. They simply apply the consumer mentality to books, that is, they consider them a consumer product, a good. Those who love books know that a book is anything but a commodity.”

In the last hour I learned that there are many Epstein files on the DOJ website where you can highlight the redacted text, copy it & paste it onto another document to read the redactions.
So this is REAL
The @krassenstein @EdKrassen have many of the files. Copy and share this everywhere
"Like most of us, Musk easily recognises who the villains of Deus Ex are—the problem is that he genuinely seems to believe that he is opposed to them, rather than being a more annoying, less capable, real-life version of AI-obsessed billionaire antagonist Bob Page."

I am happy to report I have (finally) finished my first screenplay.
Ok, I confess-- it is for a short film. But it counts!
The script is an adaptation of my first published short story, "The Survey," from @ScarletLeafMag back in 2016.
"It is evening, Senlin says;
And a dream in ruin falls.
Once more we turn in pain, bewildered,
Among our finite walls:
The walls we built ourselves with patient hands;
For the god who sealed a question in our flesh."
-Conrad Aiken, "Senlin: A Biography"
FINALLY.
No idea why it took so long for this to happen.

No Villenueve is a travesty, people. C'mon, what are we even doing here?
Ugh. I knew he had been ill, but I still wasn't prepared to lose him so soon.

I am delighted and honored to announce that four of my poems have been included in Issue #38 of The Literary Hatchet.
"I buried my sins on the mountain" (pg. 249)
A rhyming poem about the burden of guilt and obsessive desire for a forgiveness which never comes. Possibly my favorite thing I have ever written, and a possible epitaph.
"confession" (pg. 277)
A poem dedicated to my late grandfather, Oliver Lloyd Terry. Originally published earlier this year at Barren Magazine: barrenmagazine.com/confessio…
"nameless" (pg. 301)
A poem inspired by an encounter with a young unhoused woman in Dallas, Texas.
It feels good to finally share some positive news in what has, admittedly, been the worst year of my life (yes, Homer, worst year of my life *so far!*)
I'm delighted to report that three of my poems, including my favorite poem I've written, have been accepted for publication!
First time rejecting an editor's recommendations, and it cost me a publication, unfortunately.
Yay for artistic integrity? I guess. 🤔
The greatest sequel to (with respect to "Lazy Sunday") the greatest pre-recorded sketch of all time.
Ryan Gosling is a comedy god.
