Did a week of physical annotations as we’re reading Douglass. First I let them freely annotate, then I gave them a guide, and then they annotated again as a whole group. Discussions vastly improved!
The only thing is story is proving to me is that there are some people who hate honoring other people’s boundaries, especially if they’re not close.
The same person who throws a fit that their kids aren’t invited and their boyfriend can’t propose at the function. Stay home!

I’ve equally learned about the self righteousness of “good” teachers as I’ve learned about the inappropriate behaviors of budding teachers this weekend.
A lot of us haven’t been fired because of our moments, past or present, haven’t made it to the Internet.
Seeing it in middle school too ( I teach 8th). I’m frustrated and disappointed because I saw so much growth when I taught 7th.

Ok so my real birthday post. I am grateful for 40 years. The last couple years have been a journey of self-discovery and learning to love myself. So my prayer for this year and going forward is for the bravery to walk with new confidence in what I’ve learned.
