You may like the guy or you may not, but Peter Thiel has proven again and again, through Funders Fund and Thiel Fellowship, that he is the best in the industry at spotting winners early — and it’s not even close.
Anthropic cofounder, Chris Olah, was a 2012 Thiel Fellow alongside Dylan Field, the 2nd class... Chris started with 3D printing + open-source design software. But the Fellowship's whole thing is a bet on people, not just their first idea. The program has an insane hit rate...

88% of VC-backed founders who exited their companies got $0. Eduardo Azevedo and Kent Smetters analysed 157,669 startups and 248,454 founders from 1987 to 2025. Let that sink in...

What’s crazy: it reminds you that there was a time not too long ago when you could go from Europe to South Asia without any major troubles.

Good Morning from Germany, where one of Europe’s biggest landlords calls the country “uninvestable.” Heimstaden is withholding fresh capital over Berlin’s expropriation plans. It owns 20,000 apartments in the city worth ~€5bn and estimates a potential €1bn loss. Its hybrid bond has plunged from ~98 cents in August to 82.5. The irony: a policy meant to tackle the housing shortage risks driving away investment without building a single new home. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

The problem isn’t that AI is intelligent. It isn’t. The problem is that too many adults (but not all) are at once mechanistic, imitative, unimaginative, stupid, formulaic, influenceable, & gullible, arrogant beyond their skill set, & too expensive to maintain.

Well, obviously not. All of US military was against it as well. The interesting question is: Will Peter Thiel draw the right conclusions what the root cause was and why it nevertheless happened.

Sydney Sweeney reveals in an interview that she doesn’t care about the PHP vulnerability because she moved everything to Rust in 2024. “They said the rewrite would take six months. We’re on month 30. We haven’t shipped a feature since, but I’m having a very normal Wednesday.”
