WOMEN ARE ARCHITECTS OF PEACE: Women are not only victims or beneficiaries of peace but they are leaders, mediators, negotiators, early responders and builders of resilient communities. From the household to the community and from local mediation tables to national decision-making spaces, women are helping prevent conflict and create pathways for peaceful solutions. When we invest in women’s leadership, participation and voices, we invest in sustainable peace. Let us create spaces where every woman and girl can speak, lead, mediate and make decisions. Through the IMARISHA Project, KECOSCE has commenced the process of localizing the Kenya National Action Plan (KNAP III) on Women, Peace and Security (WPS) to the Kilifi County context. The process began with a consultative engagement with the Kilifi County Gender Sector Technical Working Group, including Departmental Heads from Gender and Social Services. The engagement provided an opportunity to understand existing thematic working structures, identify key county priorities and explore how KNAP III commitments can be translated into a practical, inclusive and locally owned County Action Plan. The process seeks to strengthen women’s meaningful participation and leadership in peace and security, while promoting coordinated action among county government, civil society and other stakeholders. @tendasasa @denmarkinkenya #KNAPIII #WomenPeaceAndSecurity #WomenLeadPeace

Women, Peace and Security is about ensuring women have a meaningful voice in shaping peace, security and development. Through UNSCR 1325 and Kenya’s National Action Plan III, we advance four key pillars: Participation & Promotion, Prevention, Protection and Relief & Recovery. We are proud of our women champions in Kilifi, Kwale and Mombasa Counties who continue to lead peacebuilding efforts, prevent violence, strengthen community resilience and inspire others to take action. Their leadership reminds us that when women lead, communities become stronger and peace becomes more sustainable. Together, let us continue building inclusive, peaceful and resilient communities where no one is left behind. @tendasasa @denmarkinkenya #WomenLeadPeace #MwanamkeNiAmani #WomenPeaceAndSecurity #UNSCR1325 #KNAPIII

FROM CONFLICT TO RECONCILIATION: Day 4 of the women’s mediation training under the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Programme is shifting the conversation from conflict to creation by turning differences into opportunities for dialogue and agreement. Participants are exploring mediation skills, including resolution skills that help move parties towards agreement. Today’s key takeaways: Mediation skills can be learned. The women leaders are deepening their understanding of mediation as a process where a neutral third party who is the mediator will skillfully assists parties to reach a consensual and negotiated settlement. The session explored key mediation principles, including self-determination, interests over positions, good faith, neutrality and impartiality, confidentiality, voluntariness and empowerment. At its heart, mediation is about giving parties the space, voice and confidence to shape their own solutions. @tendasasa @denmarkinkenya #WomenLeadMediation #WomenLeadPeace #WomenBuildingPeace #IMARISHA
