أودّ أن ألفت انتباه الإخوة المغاربة إلى بعض المعلومات التاريخية المغلوطة المتداولة بشأن صوماليلاند، ولا سيما وصفها بأنها "كيان انفصالي"، وهو وصف يتجاهل حقائق تاريخية وقانونية جوهرية.
فقد نالت صوماليلاند استقلالها عن بريطانيا في 26 يونيو 1960، قبل استقلال الصومال عن إيطاليا، ثم دخلت طوعاً، في الأول من يوليو من العام نفسه، في مشروع وحدة مع الصومال، لم يُكتب له النجاح، وشابته منذ نشأته اختلالات دستورية وقانونية أساسية، أبرزها عدم استكمال الإجراءات القانونية اللازمة لإقرار الاتحاد بصورة صحيحة.
وبعد المجازر والانتهاكات الجسيمة التي تعرض لها شعب صوماليلاند على أيدي الصومال خلال ثمانينيات القرن الماضي، وما أعقبها من انهيار الدولة الصومالية عام 1991، أعلنت صوماليلاند في 18 مايو من العام نفسه استعادة استقلالها وسيادتها التي كانت تتمتع بها قبل الدخول في مشروع الوحدة عام 1960.
وعليه، فإن قضية صوماليلاند، من منظورها التاريخي والقانوني، ليست قضية انفصال عن دولة كانت جزءاً أصيلاً منها، بل قضية استعادة استقلال دولة ذات حدود موروثة عن الحقبة الاستعمارية، سبق أن نالت استقلالها وسيادتها قبل الدخول في اتحاد طوعي لم يستوفِ مقوماته الدستورية والقانونية.
ومن هنا، فإن فهم قضية صوماليلاند يقتضي الرجوع إلى تاريخها وخصوصيتها القانونية، بدلاً من اختزالها في توصيفات سياسية لا تعكس حقيقة مسارها التاريخي.

Israel’s Ambassador to Somaliland, Michael Lotem, presented his credentials to President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi last week in a historic ceremony at the Presidential Palace in Hargeisa.
The ceremony marks another important step in strengthening relations between Israel and Somaliland, following their mutual recognition on December 26, 2025.
Since then, ties between the two countries have continued to develop. Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar made a historic visit to Somaliland in January 2026, while Somaliland opened its embassy in Jerusalem during President Abdullahi’s visit to Israel in June 2026.
Following the presentation of credentials, a cornerstone-laying ceremony was held for Israel’s new embassy in Hargeisa.
Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar said:
“Israel is determined to develop and strengthen its relations with Somaliland.
“The appointment of ambassadors, in accordance with the agreement reached when our countries established mutual recognition, is another important step in deepening the ties between us.”
