🚨Leave Netflix tonight. Watch this 2 h 34 min Stanford class. It's the clearest, most complete, and brutally honest explanation out there on how ChatGPT and Claude are really built. From Tokenization and BPE to the Transformer architecture, the training pipeline, and the next-token decoder. No fluff. No marketing. Just the truth. Doesn't matter if you've never touched a line of AI code or if you spend your days launching Agents: by the end, you'll suddenly connect a ton of pieces you've been trying to fit together for years. The real core boils down to this: How text turns into numbers the model can "eat" (BPE tokenization) The sole mission of a language model: predict the next token How the Transformer uses Attention so tokens can pass messages to each other In training, the NLL loss pushes the probability of the entire sequence In generation, the decoder builds the response token by token The big-picture view that takes most people years to form… this class delivers it to you complete in one sitting. Free up your time. This could be, no exaggeration, the most valuable class you watch this month.

Explore state-of-the-art multimodal prompting in our new short course Large Multimodal Model Prompting with Gemini, taught by Erwin Huizenga in collaboration with @googlecloud. One interesting insight from this course: with multimodal models, prompt structure matters significantly. Placing text inputs, such as a patient's medical history, before image inputs, like an X-ray, can enhance the model's ability to contextualize and interpret visual data effectively. In other contexts, such as image captioning, you may get better results by putting the image first. Multimodal models behave differently than text-only LLMs, and effective prompting for models varies depending on the model you’re using. In this course you’ll learn how to effectively prompt Gemini models. Gemini's multimodal capabilities also enable new approaches in AI application development, for example: - The Gemini library handles various video formats (MP4, MOV, MPEG), streamlining applications using these formats. - Large context window (up to 1 million tokens) enables processing of extensive content, like analyzing multiple 50-minute videos simultaneously. - Function calling feature integrates real-time data (e.g., current exchange rates) into model responses. The course demonstrates building multimodal applications with real-world examples including document analyzers that reason across text and graphs simultaneously, video content extractors that find and timestamp specific information from multiple hours of footage, and automated expense report systems processing receipt images while cross-referencing company policies. If you ask Google's Gemini AI if it knows where you live, it will say it doesn't. But if you then ask it where the nearest McDonald's to where you live is, it will tell you, and will even say how far it is.

πŸš¨πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§UK ANTI-CORRUPTION MINISTER RESIGNS AFTER BEING ACCUSED OF…CORRUPTION Financial Services Minister Tulip Siddiq has resigned following scrutiny over her financial ties to her aunt, Sheikh Hasina, the ousted Bangladeshi prime minister under investigation for corruption. Siddiq denies wrongdoing but stepped down, citing her role as a "distraction" to the government. Critics have raised concerns over properties linked to Siddiq and her family, as well as alleged financial irregularities in Bangladeshi infrastructure projects. Prime Minister Keir Starmer, whose approval ratings are plunging, appointed Emma Reynolds to replace Siddiq immediately. Source: Reuters
