KS' Supreme Court merit selection system works. A statewide nonpartisan commission vets candidates & sends the three most qualified ones to the Governor who's elected by all Kansans. The Gov picks the best candidate of the three for the bench. Has worked well since 1958. #ksleg

The Supreme Court Nominating Commission process is the best process for shielding judicial candidates from influence during the selection process. By design, Kansas merit selection takes place far from the maneuvering of the political branches of government. No on SCR 1611.#ksleg

Popular election of Justices is not working elsewhere. In Wisconsin, $51 million was spent on a recent Supreme Court election. $45 million of that was in the form of dark money from outside Wisconsin. Arkansas is in gridlock right now and elects their SC Justices. #ksleg
