American and Canadian MAGA and Christian Nationalist accounts pushing stories about MAiD where they force it on people is clearly about smearing Canada.
Trump needs his supporters to hate our Canada or his actions to hurt us will seem unpopular.
These stories paint our government like executors and it makes his supporters think Trump is gonna liberate the people of Canada if he forces us to become the 51st state.
It's all propaganda and psychological warfare. Common in war.
Spot the American interference on daily.

I don’t trust that anyone knows the odds of an AI catastrophe. But I know the industry is crooked. I know politicians are complicit. And I know we need to fight for a better world regardless.

Happy long weekend, Canada!
The pace of life is frenetic. The market will grind you into dust. The news is a churn of wretched comings and goings.
Here's a short post and reminder that you deserve and have permission to read more books.

Oh, we’re collecting damages for pollution now?
We’ll send the bill.

Mr. President,
Wildfires do not recognize international borders. Smoke crosses borders just as hurricanes, floods, droughts, and pollution do. Canada has never blamed the United States for the smoke from California, Oregon, or Washington, just as we would not expect Americans to be blamed for hurricanes that cross into Canadian waters.
The reality is that Canada’s forests cover nearly 350 million hectares, roughly 9% of the world’s forests, much of it remote wilderness where fire has been a natural part of the ecosystem for thousands of years. No country on Earth has the capacity to remove every tree, every branch, or every piece of combustible material across landscapes of that scale.
Canada invests billions of dollars annually in wildfire prevention, forest management, firefighting, and emergency response. Thousands of Canadian firefighters, military personnel, Indigenous fire crews, and volunteers risk their lives every summer protecting communities, often alongside American firefighters under long-standing mutual aid agreements.
In return, Canada has repeatedly sent aircraft, personnel, and equipment to help fight devastating wildfires in the United States whenever called upon. That is what neighbours do.
Climate conditions, prolonged drought, lightning strikes, insect infestations, and extreme weather have all contributed to longer and more severe wildfire seasons across North America. This is a shared continental challenge, not a uniquely Canadian one.
Rather than assigning blame, Canada and the United States should continue strengthening cooperation on wildfire prevention, forest management, scientific research, firefighting capacity, and emergency preparedness.
Our two countries have always been strongest when we confront common challenges together, not when we look for someone to blame.
We thank you for your attention to this matter. Sir.
Trump: 'We are holding Canada responsible for the fact that they are not properly maintaining their Forests, and Brush therein, and the United States is being unnecessarily invaded by filthy, polluted, and unhealthy air, the quality of which is dangerous, and totally unacceptable! I will call the Prime Minister during the day to find out what they are going to do about it. The cost is incalculable! Canada has refused to engage in basic Forest Management and Debris Removal, knowing that such refusal will lead to exactly this result. This is Willful Negligence, and becoming a yearly occurrence, costing the United States Billions of Dollars, which cost of this pollution must of necessity be added to the TARIFFS Canada is currently paying. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP'

Four days apart. One Canadian dies fighting wildfires in the U.S. Trump threatens Canada with tariffs over their wildfires.

Oh hey look, it's consequences!
Michiganders shouldn't have to breathe Canada's negligence. YEAR AFTER YEAR the smoke crosses the border while Canada does nothing. Stop exporting your smoke into our skies. Enough is enough!

I live in Northwestern Ontario. Right now, the Boreal forest is burning.
I'm writing this beneath the dark orange plume from the Quetico wildfires.
These are some of the reports coming out as communities fight to survive:
"No fire crews left for new fires."
"We had no warning."
Families are self-evacuating by private boat across lakes because they didn't receive evacuation information. They're fleeing towering flames with nothing but the clothes on their backs.
This is unacceptable in a province as wealthy as Ontario.
I'm calling out Doug Ford. His government has underfunded Ontario's wildfire management capacity by tens of millions of dollars.
@fordnation you want our Ring of Fire, our water, our forests. You want to store nuclear waste in our bedrock and run an oil pipeline through our watersheds.
But you won't work with northern communities. You make decisions for us without us, and then fail to provide the basic public services we PAY FOR and rely on: wildfire protection, health care, education, safe highways and social services.
Northern Ontario deserves better than this feckless leadership.

Trump rewrites an international agreement, in a way that will cost billions to a close ally, at the behest of a donor who literally paid what looks a lot like a bribe. The U.S. is a pariah state, period. We honor nothing, and corruption rules. Sickening.
Here are some of the details on what Canada had to give up to open the Gordie Howe Bridge, as per a Canadian government source.
For the first 15 years, Canada gets 50% of toll profits and the other 50% goes into a regional "economic development fund." What that fund does and who runs, is not clear
Under the previous agreement, Canada was to receive 100% of toll profit until they were made whole on the $6.4B they spent to build the bridge, which Michigan/the US contributed $0. The agreement also says it could be 50+ years before Canada was whole, that timeline is now longer.
The Americans will have to agree if Canada wants to increase the bridge tolls by more than 10%, or lower them below compared regional averages.
That clause helps out the owners of the Ambassador Bridge, the Maroun family, who have donated to the Trump administration and previously to US ambassador to Canada Pete Hoekstra, to try and stop the new bridge from opening #cdnpoli

This school had been operating for years — close to a decade — as a civilian school.
And for those of you suggesting that a school being near a military installation somehow proves “human shields,” elementary schools exist on or next to military bases all over the world, including in the United States, where schools operate directly on U.S. military bases to serve the children of service members.
This rush to immediately engage in atrocity denial — to reflexively deny that a military may have killed civilians — is a cancer.
It creates enormous resentment and prevents people from simply acknowledging human tragedy.
Some of you need to learn how healing it can be to say:
“This is horrible. What a tragedy.”
A New York Times investigation shows that the elementary school in Minab, Iran was most likely struck during a U.S. military operation targeting a nearby IRGC base.
Satellite imagery, verified videos, and geolocated social media posts indicate that multiple precision strikes hit several buildings inside the base at the same time the school was destroyed.
The pattern of impacts is consistent with deliberate precision targeting, making it unlikely that the damage came from a stray missile.
Experts say that the school was likely mistakenly identified as a military structure or targeted based on outdated intelligence, resulting in what may be the deadliest known civilian casualty incident since the U.S.-Israel attacks within Iran began.
U.S. officials have not confirmed responsibility and say the incident remains under investigation. Israeli officials deny that they were operating in that area at the time.

This is genuinely one of the most disgusting statements I have ever seen issued by an American official.
It should not stop shocking us that the Republican Party openly embraces this. Fine should be censured & stripped of committees. To ignore this is to accept and normalize it.
