I have an elderly friend who is in her 80s. She lives in Cornwall. Mary is very switched on but she struggles with new technology a bit - especially parking apps. All she wants to do is put her car in a space for a couple of hours and pay. She does not want to sign up for a new app. She does not want to verify her device. She does not want to save her credit card information. She does not want to figure out why the app thinks she is in Devon and cannot geolocate the car park she is standing in. She wants to take a few coins and put them in a machine and do her shopping/meet her friends. Now, she finds excuses not to meet friends or shop because she is so worried about the parking situation. It is a disgrace that parking has become so discriminatory and this is just the start. When Digital ID is introduced, her whole world will feel like this.

If your A level results are disappointing, don’t worry. I got a C and two Us and here I am today, installing lights for a helicopter landing pad in my garden.

Today, a couple watched their child graduate. As the graduate crossed the stage, one leaned in closer so their arm pressed against their partner's. At the same time, the other one reached down and gave their partner's knee a gentle squeeze. Then wiped a tear. It was magnificent.

Elon's decision to drop out of school during the internet boom: “Because I had two choices like doing a PHD and watch people build the internet or help build the internet in some small way. And I was like well, I guess I could always try and fail and then go back to grad studies”

Last Saturday I read for an Alevel student doing sociology. She's blind. She needs a reader. Her exam lasts 4 hrs cos she has 100% extra time. Shes as bright as a button. At the end of the exam she said to me "thank you for being a really good reader, & thank you for helping me on a Saturday" Lump in my throat, cant lie. I have the best job! I work with some of the gentlest, bravest, most appreciative, most positive kids, up against so much, but absolute sunshine!

Most people think of interjections like “um”, “uh”, “oh”, and “uh-huh” as meaningless filler words, but they’re actually crucial parts of the conversation. They help signal to a speaker that you’re listening, or that you’re unsure about something, or that you want the conversational floor next. They basically help regulate conversation! knowablemagazine.org/content… #conversation #interjections #grammar #speech #communication #linguistics #language

Today a 69 year old man known as Robert his entire life walked out on a balcony and self identified as Leo. The entire world now calls him Leo without question. See how easy it is to accept and respect what an individual identifies as?

It's time we had a nation-wide education campaign on welcome to country, to explain what 'country' means to indigenous people. They aren't welcoming you to Australia, they are welcoming you to their patch in Australia (country), by traditional owners of that patch (country)...

This old man, who was going to speak against gender-affirming care in the Wisconsin state legislature, changed his mind after actually speaking to and listening to trans people for several hours. Don’t let your hate block your willingness to learn:

It's time for my latest entry in, "Is #AI Ready For Prime Time?" It started with the simple question and task I innocently assigned ChatGPT this morning. Little did I know what was to come! Read on for this wild ride, and hold your reactions/comments until the end. A🧵
