Content warning: distressing scenes of violence
Tonight Amnesty have awarded Channel 4 News @channel4news Best Broadcast Feature at the Amnesty Media Awards 2026 for this powerful report.
This feature follows the story of Saeed al-Amour, a Palestinian farmer, whose leg was amputated after being shot by illegal settlers while he tended to his olive groves in the occupied West Bank’s Masafer Yatta.
Just four days ago, Saeed was arrested and detained by Israeli forces after another confrontation with settlers on his land.
This is what apartheid looks like. Saeed’s story is the story of millions of Palestinians across the occupied West Bank: state-backed settler attacks, home demolitions, and a legal system that penalises Palestinians while shielding Israeli settlers from accountability.
Israel is rapidly expanding settlements across the occupied West Bank. But it is going underreported.
It is vital that journalists continue to expose human rights abuses.
Absolutely thrilled that my film about the shooting of Palestinian farmer Saeed Al Amour won an Amnesty award last night. Grateful to the judges, the team at @Channel4News and most importantly Saeed himself. Watch the film here: youtu.be/2zhk_NZYNGU?si=fj_r…

In June 2025, the UK government ruled to ban the group Palestine Action.
Since then, protests and arrests have ramped up and six Palestine Action activists have been found not guilty of aggravated burglary.
@Matt_A_Shea investigates the truth behind the ban.
Please watch my latest film for @Channel4News on settler violence in the West Bank. It tells the shocking story of Saeed al-Amour, a 60-year-old Palestinian man who was shot defending his olive groves. I filmed with Saeed for over a year and was in awe of his bravery & resilience
Over the last year, Palestinian farmer Saeed al-Amour has attempted to defend his land in the occupied West Bank, as settler attacks have become more frequent and violent.
His olive groves near the Palestinian town of Al-Rakeez have become a target for Israelis from the illegal settlement of Avigayil, a kilometre away.
Warning: this report contains distressing scenes of violence.

My latest film for @Channel4News.
It’s the story of two Bedouin villages, both subject to the same Israeli playbook for forced displacement. But here’s the thing, one of them is in the West Bank, the other in Israel.
