Interesting look at UK MBB roster building. Building out proprietary model for player evaluation/projections, tuned to how Mark Pope likes to play? Leveraging Evan Miya data w/ player roles, i.e. creators, receivers. Creators bring a lot of value comparatively to other roles

While not at the scale of a football program, looking forward to finishing and implementing similar processes this coming season

Football is MILES ahead of basketball in building out personnel depts. Nebraska FB has 13 front office staffers in- house, plus four remote scouts who wrote nearly 1,000 reports on prospective portal players. Basketball programs who rapidly invest in this space will be rewarded.

"While rate stats, shot profile, & lineup data are useful analytic tools often available [publicly], some teams are going far deeper w/ predictive modeling, salary cap analysis, & even nuanced on-court breakdowns for concepts such as player drive direction & hustle stats"

Never stops. It used to be a much smaller player pool that Programs had to track and recruit. Now we are tracking the same pool that NBA teams are (High School, College, International, etc.) on a year round basis. Lots of room for adaptation and growth in CBB going forward!

Crazy how much the approach and calendar for roster building has changed for college coaches. In the past, season ends in April, maybe a few weeks to catch your breath. Now it’s immediately portal, then spring sneaker circuit, then international recruiting, then Peach Jam, etc.
