a lot of academics will have a keen-eyed structural analysis of breakfast cereals or barbie dolls but not when you ask them to think about their own profession and the context in which it operates

Nonprofits are bad We need to bring back high integrity state capacity, highly paid, chosen for merit and held to high standards of accountability The state must end its practice of farming out state capacity to feckless nonprofits that grift and are not held to any standard

Today, on the streets of Toronto “Yemen, Yemen make us proud, turn another ship around” They mean the Houthis. The Iran backed terrorist organization. They are cheering on terrorists.

🚨 BREAKING: Biden National Security Council Advisor: We Can't Go Against Israel until Reelection; Israel 'Lies, Bombs, and Kills All These Kids' “We can help you [Israel] in the way that we can, but you’re not going to continue to lie, and bomb, and kill all these kids without facing serious consequences. But that’s a second term decision.” “If Biden won again he could be much more forthright about saying ‘No’ [to Israel].” #270ToWin

I've made some awful assessments of players and teams before, but I couldn't fathom why Jalen Brunson was coming off the bench when playing for Dallas. Fitting that he is now terrorizing the Pacers - a team currently coached by his old coach from Dallas. youtu.be/vpm5s0qY8go?si=jBtz…

Fossil fuels were given over $7 TRILLION in subsidies last year: buff.ly/3P85KHU That's $19.2 billion per day, $799 million per hour, $13.3 million every minute. The first step in addressing the problem is to stop funding it. #ActOnClimate #climate #energy

Great question. On one level, it depends on the variety of capital held by the elder. But intergenerational learning may also be interpreted as a marker of family orientation: importance placed on family, living arrangements, what kind of knowledge is celebrated, etc.
Replying to @robkhenderson
Question: would learning from an elder be + cultural capital?

I recently volunteered with a non-profit organization to serve as a tutor for youth. Predictably, my mind swings between fear of not doing a good job for the kids, and staging a coup so as to take control of the entire organization.
