Thrilled to be the first guest at @MTSlive new studio (it’s stunning). Voice is clearly the new UI for agents deployed in the real world.
Thanks for having us @liangsays @sophiadew @MTSlive

Great look at how progressive fleets are using AI and @Samsara data to keep costs down via @FreightWaves freightwaves.com/news/ai-sav…
What to watch this week: whether w/o Sep 21 sets a fourth straight all-time high. The DOE weekly index already printed $6.53 for that week.
Full briefing 👉 linkedin.com/build-relation/…
In August, fleets in Samsara's database paid an avg $5.32/gal for diesel. The posted pump price for the same weeks (EIA) was $5.46. That's $0.13/gal less overall; adjusted for where fleets actually fuel, the delta is $0.10/gal
California is still the most expensive state for fleets, averaging $7.64 last week. Colorado is $5.74.
The states seeing the biggest price jumps aren't necessarily the most expensive:
Maryland +10.1%, Montana +9.9%, Wisconsin +9.4%. Mid-Atlantic, Rockies, Midwest — three regions that don't share supply.
Avg gas spend (used in lightweight vehicles) sits at $4.66, still 13% below the 2022 peak.
The diesel–gasoline spread is now a whopping $1.62/gal — the widest ever recorded in the index.
... And the 6th straight week of spend increases. The two biggest WoW jumps — +$0.28 and +$0.33 — were also the two most recent.
Diesel averaged $5.40 in August. It's up another 21% since.
Avg spend is up 76% year over year, and 69% since the last full week before the conflict began in late February, when fleets paid an avg of $3.71.
It's the third straight week at a record.
⛽ 📈 🚨 Fleet diesel spend just broke its own record for the third straight week.
Average diesel spend across @Samsara customer base hit $6.28/gal the week of Sep 14 — the highest in the six years covered by the Fuel Spend Index — and 13% above the June 2022 peak of $5.57

Come for the math; stay for the future of humanity.
Really enjoyed this fascinating (and unexpectedly fun) convo between @LandJohan and @akashpasricha on all the AI drama dominating our feeds.

Commercial crashes make headlines (for good reason—the effect can catastrophic) but the reality is that they are relatively rare, so pinpointing the leading indicator (is it cell phone use? Speeding?) is actually quite difficult to quantify.
Our latest @Samsara Signals analysis shows why: road risk doesn’t happen in isolation. It compounds.
What we found: The 10% of drivers ranked highest by our Risk Model account for 47% of crashes. Mobile use alone is associated with a 2.7x likelihood of falling into the very-high-risk tier. Add harsh braking and that rises to 4.5x. Add distraction and it reaches 5.4x.
Why it matters: Crashes are rare, making road risk incredibly hard to quantify. Our patent-pending Risk Model looks across roughly 50 factors to identify patterns that outcomes alone can’t reveal—and help safety teams understand where coaching can make the greatest difference.
How we’re using it: The research already underpins Samsara’s AI safety products, including Coaching Priority, helping safety teams focus their limited time on the drivers and behaviors that need attention most.
