Ticketmaster’s BOTS Act ruling is bigger than Ticketmaster. A judge says platforms that help brokers buy illegally, then profit when that inventory gets resold, can be liable too. Warning shot for anyone automating and reselling inventory at scale.

The venues behind California's anti-scalping bill now want it dead. AB 1349's final vote is today after Senate rewrites gutted disclosure rules. Same pattern as D.C.'s RESALE Act this summer: these bills rarely survive the rewrite.

Ontario's resale cap didn't lower Leafs ticket prices 🏒 It only limits resellers. The team still prices dynamically on the primary market, so demand games get expensive before resale even starts. Same tension as World Cup pricing.
How will fans react as they see higher prices from the teams they support rather than from the marketplaces?

🎫️ Ticketmaster actually pulled scalped Olivia Rodrigo tickets and reissued them at face value 🎫️ No surprise, fans have wanted real bot enforcement for years, more than another unenforced BOTS Act promise.

Chelsea and Fulham just leveled up matchday hospitality. New private boxes at Stamford Bridge, Michelin dining up to £1,165 a person at Craven Cottage. No surprise, clubs keep learning fans will pay more for a real experience. thestadiumbusiness.com/2026/…
California just killed its ticket resale price cap bill. AB 1720 died in committee, StubHub's $3.4M in lobbying this year getting credit. No surprise, price caps have primary implications. The bots and speculative bill is still alive and heads to vote.

Biggest takeaway from the Stubhub earnings call today is they expect to be flat to down on GMS in North America for Q3 & Q4, year over year. Do not think that is a surprise to many of us, based on the event calendar and a World Cup reduction on consumer spending.
📰 WSJ drops a rough StubHub story right as they report earnings today 📰 BBB complaints up 47% year over year, with fans stuck without tickets and refunds taking months. Timing is not on StubHub's side today.

🎟️ LA28 Drop 2 Is Open — and no surprise that Fans are pushing back on the $5,000 Tickets 🎟️ While every Olympic sport, every price point is on sale. With LA28 there is a challenging balance of affordable tickets and necessary revenue, with the World Cup setting new standard and expectations in pricing.

Drop 2 for @LA28 has started, those with the first spots 10:00am today are currently in queue to see what is available for these Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Summer Games.
There appears to be queues for initial @LA28 site, a separate queue for login, and then a separate queue for each event. Good luck everyone.
Currently and endless loop in the queue for @LA28 ticket drop. You get to the end of the queue are told it's your turn, click on login and it puts you back into the queue.
In the federal case of FTC vs. KIG, the judge ruled that BOTS Act is not limited to automated bots. It applies to any person who circumvents security or technological controls used to enforce posted ticket limits. “The statute unambiguously applies to ‘any person’ and not just to ‘bots.’"
This would be any person doing things to bypass waiting rooms, using technology to accelerate browsing through the site, or multiple accounts...even if they are manually doing it are violating the BOTS Act.
It is just a matter of enforcement.
One outstanding question is are the people who build tools that enable people to do these things violating the statute and liable as well.

🚨Day 1 of the World Ticket Conference brings about an announcement from the @FTC that a Georgia ticket reseller “Elite Events” has settled their case for their alledged violation of the ticket bots act for $300k.
I got news for you FTC, these guys are VERY small fish in a pond of sharks….
PS: @FTC - What defines what
a bot is? What are the clear rules? Why don’t you address them to the public?
