Bloke walked less than 4 miles a day. I've walked further just to go to the pub. He's not a hero. He left his family for 28 years! He's a prick. – at Scunthorpe, England

So he left his kid and all at home to just walk 3miles ~5km a day. He could have just been a normal dad for his kid and play football with him or get a dog to take on walks. Why are people celebrating this pos loser?

Abandoned his family which included his 8 year old to walk 3 miles a day aimlessly. Why is this being celebrated and aggressively pushed by the media as a feel good "everything is fine" story ? The reaction has been to view him as a lazy deadbeat because that's what he is.
Around the world? Avoided Africa entirely
After 28 years and 31,000 miles, Karl Bushby has finally made it home. 🥹
The 57-year-old British adventurer completed his journey around the world on foot Monday, returning to his mother’s home in Hull, England, after setting out from Chile on Nov. 1, 1998.
Along the way, he crossed four continents and 30 countries, navigated the frozen Bering Strait and swam across the Caspian Sea and English Channel to avoid using planes, boats or other transportation to move forward. Bushby reunited with his mother, whom he hadn’t seen in a decade.
