Stanford President Tessier-Levigne declares that he is against the creation of "thought police" at Stanford. This sounds good but why does Stanford have "speech police"? See showmethemath.org/2023/06/wh…
Stanford has declared that it has not banned "American". I share the reactions expressed in my retweets of David Henderson and Harald Uhlig.

Give me a break. The CIO's message says Stanford cares about precision. No it doesn't. If Stanford cared about precision, it wouldn't use the exact same term for paraplegic as for quadriplegic. That reduces precision.
A Stanford project does not like the word "American". "Political correctness" knows no bounds! showmethemath.org/2022/12/st…
My blog post today -- showmethemath.org/2022/10/hu… -- highlights Claudia Sahm, a courageous young woman. Since I spend so much time reading math journals instead of social media, I had missed her campaign to improve economics. Time for me to help her get her message out.

I am attending a macro conference (hoover.org/events/2022hoover…). Larry Summers shocked me when he said he found RAs that would run simulations of FRB/US. His comments also prompted me to ask "Why can't the Fed be as good as the Bank of Canada"? See my blog showmethemath.org/2022/05/wh….
I had the pleasure of attending a promotion ceremony for Lt. Col. Jennifer Carns, a Hoover National Security Affairs Fellow from the Air Force. It reminded me of how professionals act when they take their job seriously.

Many think that Putin is crazy and irrational. I think that we should first look at the possible rational reasons Putin had for attacking Ukraine, and what a rational Putin has learned.
