IBS, Functional diarrhea, and Chronic constipation are conditions that are not equally distributed across sexual orientation groups
Data suggest important differences among men
This is, of course, only a retrospective cross-sectional database (with its own flaws), and much more needs to be learned about psychosocial aspects regarding this finding.
Are gay men more willing to disclose GI functional disorders than straight men, for example? Is there a linkage with rates of depression and anxiety? What would be the best way forward to learn from this exploratory analysis?
Topics like these need to be handled carefully, especially when disclosed as "newsworthy," lest they communicate a wrong (and potentially harmful) message. I invite an open and sincere conversation about this paper, and thank you.

Turning 45? 🎂
This isn’t just a birthday, it’s your sign to get screened.
Colorectal cancer is one of the most common cancers worldwide, but it’s also one of the most preventable.
Screening can detect it early, or even prevent it before it starts.
Don’t wait. Stay up to date with your screening. 💙
عمرك ٤٥؟ 🎂

@KerbageAnthony presenting data showing no difference in colonoscopic depth of insertion between male & female endoscopists although female endoscopists did more procedures on females- ?gender based differences in technique to account for variation in patient factors. #ACG2025
Great chatting with @GastroEndoNews about CRC surveillance in older adults with Lynch syndrome, and why continued screening still matters after 65.
Looking forward to sharing further data on those over 75 at @AmCollegeGastro in Phoenix!

Our group was the first to define POSED (Post-Obesity Surgery Esophageal Dysfunction), a newly recognized motility disorder that can develop in a subset of patients after metabolic bariatric surgery.
In our latest @NGMJournal Neurogastroenterology & Motility study, we uncover a potential mechanism:
🔹 Low proximal gastric distensibility and elevated post-swallow intragastric pressure increase esophageal afterload
🔹 This leads to secondary peristalsis abnormalities, eventually progressing to primary motor dysfunction (resembling achalasia)
🔹 70% had abnormal FLIP findings despite normal or borderline HRM
📌 Clinical vigilance is key—patients with new-onset dysphagia after bariatric surgery should be evaluated for POSED, even when standard manometry appears normal.
Collaborative work with @KarthikRavi @OMGhanemMD @MayoClinicGIHep colleagues.

Happy to share our study on the quality of 📷photodocumentation of large colorectal polyps!
Despite guideline recommendations, high-quality photodocumentation is often lacking, with fewer than 60% of cases meeting quality criteria.
