Philly can't be a city of no. We cannot be a world class city, fund our schools, and rebuild our communities by obstructing change and fighting investment. We can't yearn to always be America's poorest big city as a sort of cultural statement.
We need to innovate and grow.
Similarly I voted "No" on the ballot question in Philly to amend our city charter to make permanent "an office headed by the Chief Cultural Officer to promote the City’s arts, culture, and creative economy sector".
Council should get serious & govern, not do ~whatever this is~.
The push to ban foie gras is part of a nationwide effort.
A Nov. 3 ballot initiative would ban sales of the French fatty-liver delicacy that opponents call cruel and fans say is delicious. wapo.st/4iH6vFx
Every time I sit with a local elected official I point out that our refusal to build housing is going to directly lead to Pennsylvania losing representation in the house and the first like 4 sentences I get back each time are about gentrification, equity, and displacement.

You can't afford bananas because of (((them))) is literally the punch line of this entire ad.
New @RebellionPac ad dropping in Michigan. We have to suffer here at home, so Israel can get all its wars. That’s why they buy politicians like Mike Rogers. He promised to serve Israel “unconditionally,” but never made that promise to you.
If you believe that Disney contributed less than $1.00 in tax revenue to the United States federal government I have a bridge to sell you.
It was mostly the lack of HVAC
This litigation is actually unhinged.
This is actually delusional, and Dems don't need to pretend that they're letting the LGBTQ community down.
Trans voter to @AOC: Trans people in America feel like they've been abandoned by the Democratic Party, that we are a losing issue, that it's not worth defending us. What do you say to that?

To note, the TOD law being considered by Council wouldn’t have an effect on single family zoned properties, meaning properties further away from the subway would be the primary beneficiaries. Make it make sense!
The debate over what kind of development we should see on South Broad Steet - atop one of our only two subway lines - will only get more intense if City Council moves to enact transit oriented development zoning overlays down there: inquirer.com/real-estate/hou…
Fundamentally I don’t understand how this “benefits” the GOP. Maybe I’m becoming more conservative than I think, but just…get a drivers license or a non-DL state ID card.

ACLU becoming an activist organization instead of a union of leaders focus on civil liberties was….yeah no it was 100% on my bingo card.
NEW: The ACLU of Indiana is in turmoil after several of its most influential civil rights attorneys submitted their resignations in protest of the organization's direction under its board and incoming leader, multiple sources told @indystar . indystar.com/story/news/poli…

Today the Department of Justice brings federal charges against Eric Lewis for crimes related to the murder of Philadelphia Police Sergeant Shane Seiber and the shooting of Officer Hector Rodriguez.
The American policeman is untouchable. Anyone who thinks otherwise will draw the full focus and power of the United States government.
We thank the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office for their coordination. Our prosecution will proceed in parallel with theirs to reflect the distinct and compelling federal interest of the American people to protect law enforcement at every level of government, and to vindicate the harm suffered to our greatest local law enforcement partner: @PPDCommish and @PhillyPolice.
An indictment is only allegation. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

South Broad zoning is horrendous, and needing to scrape and claw to get apartment buildings built on top of one of our two heavy rail systems in a city of 1.6 million people really needs to change!
A new apartment building proposed for South Broad Street is shorter, and smaller, than might be expected (the property is within walking distance of two subway stops). It also has one parking spot for every two apartments: inquirer.com/real-estate/hou…

Step 1: Repeal the wage tax
Philadelphia places a 4% tax, on gross income, on any person who lives OR works in the City
Creates a huge incentive for companies to locate elsewhere, which is why Bala Cynwyd, Conshohocken and KOP markets have grown AND also means that employees who work outside of the City, like at Vanguard, have a huge dis-incentive to live in the City and commute out.

Brad Lander went all the way to Israel hoping that he would get a photo op to show he's being oppressed by the Israeli government, and the best he could do is a sad face picture on an air conditioned bus passing a security checkpoint.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Brad.
Idk man this is pretty gay.
Trump on Jon Husted: "I'm studying his body. I've never studied the body of a man before. It's not my thing. Nothing wrong with it, of course. But it's never been my thing. But I looked at his ass. I said, 'His ass, shit, it's like a pile of muscle.' Then I looked at his legs and I said, 'Man, his feet are big.'"
I've been a Democrat since I turned 18, and this year I voted for three Democrats (thought about leaving one line blank), and an independent. "Democratic voter" is an adjective, not an identity to me.

Today, I joined fallen Officer Shane Seiber’s family, his loved ones, his @PhillyPolice brothers and sisters, and the entire City of Philadelphia in honoring his memory and life of service.
Officer Seiber was a true public servant, and he was the best of us. He cared deeply about making others’ lives better — and he demonstrated that by choosing to live a life of service. He served two tours in Iraq with the United States Air Force — and even after he returned to civilian life, he continued his commitment to serving others when he decided to become a police officer with the Philadelphia Police Department.
As I’ve listened to stories about Shane from some of the officers who served with him, it struck me how his kindness shone through in every memory they shared. To them, he was known as “Colgate” for his big smile that could light up any room. He was a team player — someone who you could always count on to have your back.
For 10 years, Shane put on the uniform and the badge every day, kissed his family goodbye, and left home to protect and serve his neighbors. While his life was cut far too short, we all have a collective responsibility to come together and remember his life of service and the ultimate sacrifice he made to keep his community safe.
Policing is a noble profession, and those who take on the incredibly difficult task of protecting our communities deserve our profound gratitude and deep respect.
Lori and I join this community in praying for Shane’s wife Lisa, their two kids — Finn and Emily — his mother Michelle, his stepfather, Nelson, his brothers John and Max, and his sister Sophia — along with all of Shane’s family and everyone who loved him.
May God offer you comfort and strength in this time of mourning, and may Officer Shane Seiber’s memory forever be a blessing.
