NEWS ENERGY PAYMENT: £100 payment to all households in Council Tax bands A to D for England (and funding for same in other nations). That's 20m homes. Translation: This is the support for the huge rise due in January price cap. Its expected to be 27% up. Which equates to roughly £100 from Jan to March alone.

Scrapping the gas standing charge sounds great. But the £108 isn’t free. It just moves. Pensioners at home all day in old Teesside terraces could end up paying much more.
