Massawa is the Eritrean port city on the Red Sea. It is as hot as a furnance with temperstures soaring to 46°C (114.8°F). You sweat plasma and can't stand with your shoes flat in afternoon sun, perhaps on heels.
Looks like our Eritreans in Uganda have serious home ambitions.
Are we comparing apples with apples?
1) Different currency strength here! Rarely do you get dollar denominated bonds above single percentage digit.
2) Around the patch, there are many sovereign bonda that give between 14.5%-18.99% and TAX FREE!
3) Political risk factor!
Bank of Uganda’s 15.25%–16% bond yields easily beat US Treasuries (~4.7%–5.3%), mopping up local shilling liquidity to cool inflation.
But to attract foreign dollars and strengthen the shilling, that 10% yield advantage must outweigh currency depreciation risks.
The @BOU_Official is engaged in good and confidence moves. Focus remains on showering up the SHILLING.

They hear, they listen very well, they understand but actually don't care. When one feeds off someone else's sweat, why care what it costs?

This circular for enhanced public allowances was signed on behalf of the Secretary to the Treasury who tells Ugandans to adopt frugal spending habits. It's a classic irony.

Uganda’s Electricity Crisis: Have We Learnt Nothing and Forgotten Everything?
20 years of Umeme. US$860 million invested in distribution. Billions more in generation and transmission. Over 2,000 MW of installed capacity.
Yet Uganda is once again staring at the possibility of darkness.
How did we get here? Is the problem ageing infrastructure, inadequate investment—or two decades of institutional failures and lessons ignored?
Have We Learnt Nothing and Forgotten Everything?
Our special investigation follows the money, interrogates the numbers and examines the decisions behind Uganda's electricity crisis.

UGX falling should worry Ugandans. UN/NGO funding is shrinking, OHCHR left, DGF closed, USAID was dismantled, tourism is hit by Ebola, coffee FX weakened, while Hormuz pushes fuel costs up. Add Christmas imports & USD speculation: fewer dollars in, more out. 4,500 next or more?
Central Bank @BOU_Official Governor warned about this catastrophe. As usual arrogance and failure to listen took centre stage.

A friend in Gaborone just explained this to me: “President Boko declined the title His Excellency saying he’s the same ‘boy’ they’ve always known who continues to champion human rights - hence to remain with the title Advocate. So all the Presidential Portraits that are put in public places had to be reprinted to remove His Excellency and put Advocate.”
Then killed me with this; “Apparently he had also refused to exit the WhatsApp groups he was in [before he became president] but I think by now he’s been kicked out.”🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

He is the true representative of impunity in Uganda. The late Matovu won over 90% of the polling stations in Busiro South but under super tight security - Kenan Opio was declared winner of MP election for Busiro South. The man is very clearly not an OPIO but that's his name 🤔🤔
