I think what's sad is that running used to be so pure. I know technology has been improved in other sports, but I chose athletics because there was no hiding place. It's really sad that these trainers and spikes are going to be the new norm.
What matters more: your principles or your performance? In the age of the Vaporfly, that's the question now facing Fionnuala McCormack.

Professional track & field needs gambling.
If we really want an unbiased perspective on both human and mechanical unfair advantages we should welcome its potential regulations.
It won't "Save" our sport, but we should be open to the opportunity.

This underlines why a version of sanctioning, just an asterisk * beside every assisted performance at least, is long overdue. I challenge any otherwise hard-working runner to stand by a recent “Shoe PB” & declare they’re 100% comfortable with it. A false PB is not a PB. #FakePB – at Kolkata, India

Unpopular opinion: stop buying Nike. Whether you believe it or not, it matters and sends a message. – at Flagstaff, AZ
Mary Cain joined Nike because she wanted to be the best athlete. Instead she was forced to lose weight, given diuretics, shamed on a scale in front of teammates, lost her period for 3 years, and cut herself. In a system directed by Salazar and endorsed by @Nike. #fixgirlssports
