ZERO physical toughness and an OC that doesn't have an identity.. you cns put the QB into pass plays longer than 3 seconds. WRs are in motion and and double moves. Run the ball, go back to I formation, rollout, TE passes, rb screens, basic old school football

National Tight Ends Day isn't even a real holiday. the NFL adapted it from a pagan fullback festival held each year at the time of the fall equinox

I think John Mateer and Ben Arbuckle both had their best games as #Sooners. Ben committed to the run immediately and stuck with it while carefully picking his spots to get aggressive. John made plays within the construct of the gameplan and never put the ball at risk. Bravo.

Oklahoma finally fully committed to the RB run game against Mississippi State. Blaylock - 12 ATT Avant - 13 ATT It was the first time two RB’s had 12+ carries under Arbuckle. It was the third time two RB’s had double-digit carries under Arbuckle. (Kent St. and SC ‘25)
Lloyd Avant led all running backs against Kentucky with eight carries. No running back carried the ball the final twelve minutes. Through five FBS games, Oklahoma hasn’t once handed the ball off to any running back more than 10 times in a game.

It’s okay to be happy Oklahoma won AND frustrated with how it happened. There were LEGIT positives against Mississippi State, and they deserve recognition. But when a team repeatedly struggles to close the door, even victories can feel like missed opportunities. Full video ⬇️

Good win. Never take those for granted in this conference. 23 points on 469 yards is inexcusable. Way too many points left on the field. 469 yards against an SEC opponent is progress. 4-3 Boomer Sooner

One of the struggles when a cow calves is every once in a while they’ll just forget they have a calf, and leave it. My wife had one of those yesterday, momma walked off and never looked back. Calf was just curled up in a pile of weeds in the sun all day. Finally, in the evening, knowing it need to suck, she slowly herded the cow back near the calf, went over and got the calf on its feet, held it, and coaxed the momma even closer. Finally, momma sniffed, hummed, remembered apparently, and all seemed well. Then my wife let the calf go. It bolted. I mean it ran like lightning… straight through the barbed wire fence into the next pasture… this time momma did chase and my wife ran and opened the gate so the cow could go around… but the baby kept going right though the next pasture’s barbed wire fence and she lost sight in the brush and trees. We spent the entire evening searching, walking through the trees, brush, everywhere. When night fell, the howl of every coyote was an ominous threat, sounding closer each time. Flashlights poured over every branch and into every gulley looking for a reflection of eyes, listening… and nothing. Finally, exhausted, my wife went to bed late fretting; I worry but not the way she does; she is the ultimate shepherd and losing one hurts to her core. This one really bothered her because, to her mind, if she hadn’t tried to pair them, calf wouldn’t have bolted. That’s the constant struggle between letting nature be versus nudging when nature falls short. She spent a sleepless night and was up before dawn, ready to find the remains. The coyote howls were still echoing in our minds from the night before. But lo and behold, first look into the pasture and the baby was at its mommas side! Nobody that doesn’t live this life understands the highs, lows, stresses, losses, and victories. This morning was a victory. Thank you God for this moment. Wanda and her baby, safe and sound and together.

Lost in yesterday’s win: John Mateer had his fewest rush attempts (9) since the UTEP game, but his second highest output (37 yards). Excellent decision making to take what the defense is giving you.

When it comes to return on investment. USC arguably made the worst head coaching hire in the history of college football with Lincoln Riley. $110 million. No CFP appearances. No meaningful wins. Mostly absolutely irrelevant.

Ok, I’ll chime in. It definitely should have been reviewed. In my opinion, there was a catch. He maintained control long enough to establish two additional elements of control (the tuck and turn to square him to the endzone (i.e., continuation of the play). The rule requires one additional act of control after contact, and that appears to have happened. I’d admit it can be judged otherwise. Even if others disagree, a play that close in the end zone has to be taken to the booth. Why wasn’t it? To this question: would BV have pushed harder for a review or timeout if this were a defensive play? It’s a fair question—does his defensive background cause him to view these tight calls differently depending on which side of the ball is involved? Again, bottom line: Why wasn't a call to have the review requested?

16. Has Lebby lost weight? 17. Benjamin Arbuckle. Look. I’m not saying I’m a fan. I like you, sure. I want you to succeed. Good game, yesterday. We will leave it at that. Saturdays keep coming, baby. Stack a couple.

Slept On It: Thoughts on OU’s 23-15 win in Starkville. 1. Great win. Any road win in the SEC is great. Heck, home, neutral, anything. 2. John Mateer played an excellent ballgame. 3. Michael Fasusi is why. Fasusi’s impact can’t be overstated.

A 9-3 SEC team is going to make the College Football Playoff this year. But there might be like four of them to choose from.
