Football managers (and clubs) are so used to (often) infinite resources, that leaning into the constraints of the club, league or even your own self-imposed ‘constraints’ is important
This, for example, might be signing a LB who can also play LCB so you can play 3 or 4-at-the-back. Maybe the club won’t sign a player over 28, and maybe you insist that this position will have X amount of your budget
📙My favourite analogy from the book is a cooking one…
“If you have all the ingredients to choose from, you’ll probably cook something familiar. If I give you 3 ingredients, you have to come up with something new and creative”
