I just sold a story about a worm going back-and-forth across a driveway. Look forward to this high stakes, action-packed tale this coming fall.

This was an unexpected item in the mail today and a pickup I really needed. I had no idea this was coming and am honored to have a tiny part in helping to make Podcastle what it is. @PodCastle_org @fiyahlitmag

Did a crossword puzzle tonight for the first time in decades. I completed "This is not a..." with "pipe." That wasn't the intended answer, but I think my answer was better.

I lost my last chachaji on Tuesday. He was the last of my father's generation and made it to 92. I'm really sad that caring for my mom these last four years prevented me seeing him in his final years. RIP Meji Uncle.

Just reached the holy shit moment in Cloud Cuckoo Land on page 500. I'm quite late to read this and wish I had someone to talk about it with! I really admire this slow burn/slow revelation.

Okay, but the important thing is, he's on ROLLER SKATES.
The original Michelin Man from 1894. He was is white because rubber tires are naturally white. It was not until 1912 that carbon chemicals were mixed into the white tires, which turned them black. The change was structural, not aesthetic. By adding carbon, tires became more durable. Michelin also began reviewing restaurants so that more people would travel further distances in their cars to eat at these restaurants. This, in turn, would wear down their tires faster and force them to buy more. The star system that Michelin uses goes up to three and is broken down by whether or not it's worth driving to the restaurant: One star: "A very good restaurant in its category" (Une très bonne table dans sa catégorie) Two stars: "Excellent cooking, worth a detour" (Table excellente, mérite un détour) Three stars: "Exceptional cuisine, worth a special journey" (Une des meilleures tables, vaut le voyage).

Was going through old slides tonight with my mom and found this one of my dad (to the left of the car) in Sudan in 1962 when he and my mom were stationed there with FAO.

"Have you already read the latest unpublished story that we premiere in Aanuk? Coiffeur Siete tells the story of a hairdressing AI who must take care of a patient coming from palliative care." I'm honored to have my story translated into Spanish in this wonderful journal.

Did you know? Actor Zach Galifianakis paid an old homeless woman's rent for decades and spent time with her as she lost her family. When Zach Galifianakis met Marie "Mimi" Haist, she was volunteering in a laundromat, surviving off tips left by customers. She was only allowed to sleep between the washers and dryers so customers couldn't see her. Haist revealed that she became homeless after her divorce and had been on the streets for decades. Even though Galifianakis was an unknown comedian at the time, he found a comfortable apartment for her and paid her rent. Galifianakis became a Hollywood star after filming alongside Bradley Cooper in the "Hangover" movie trilogy. However, his fame didn't affect his heart, and he remained down-to-earth. He maintained a strong bond with Haist and even walked a red carpet with her as his date. "If he's in town, he takes me ... I dress up nice, and a friend helps me with my makeup. It's fun, not something I've ever dreamed I'd experience. The limo takes me home afterward," revealed Haist. Their friendship lasted nearly 27 years until she died at 96 years old.

Something beautiful for the weekend! An extraordinary Acheulean handaxe knapped around a fossil shell circa 500,000-300,000 years ago. The maker appears to have deliberately flaked around the shell to preserve and place it in a central position. As a result this handaxe has been described as an early example of artistic thought.
