The potential energy demand for AI and data centers is putting a lot of "wind in the nuclear industry's sails." But as Big Tech bets on nukes, could it be "too little, too late" to manage the massive power demand this decade? investors.com/news/artificia…

A great colleague in every sense of the word.
After more than three years at @vtdigger, my last day was earlier this month. I'm so grateful for my time at Digger, the opportunity to cover the Vermont Statehouse/ #vtpoli and to have worked for a news organization that is so important for the state.

It's my final day working for VTDigger. After three years (including 15-months of a pandemic) I decided it was time for a change. I'll be decompressing for a bit and then we'll see what happens. It's been a pleasure reporting on VT and #vtpoli since 2018.

The VT House has now voted 103-47 to override @GovPhilScott's veto of H.227, a change to the Winooski charter. This too would allow noncitizens to vote in local elections — including school district questions. #vtpoli

M'colleague @xanderlanden and I poked around this week and got some nice 'declined to comments.' #vtpoli

Oh, and dedicated bereavement leave? They also think that’s too much. (They have generously offered that employees use vacation days in the event that their spouse dies.) 5/

Important. #vtpoli
Replying to @VTDiggerGuild
If VTDigger wants to be a model for the future of local news, it needs to try to also be a model employer. Because relying on cheap, young labor that burns out and turns over every two years is not innovative — and it is not sustainable. 12/

More than a year ago, we unionized in hopes of creating positive and constructive change at VTDigger. But we’ve made little progress on the issues that matter. 1/ @vtdigger @newsguild

Highlight of my day so far has been listening to lawmakers debate whether a coconut is a fruit or a nut on the floor of the Vermont House
